Still have hours left of work, coworker sick again.

Still doing an insane amount of other people's work.

Anyone want to ask me fannish questions?

I can't remember if I've asked this before, so sorry if it's a repeat. Do you have a favorite X-Man?

….

….

*whispers shamefully* Wolverine.

Look, I never read the X-men comics, okay? I only watched the movies. And the movies are basically all about (and I realize that this is a problem) Hugh Jackman being growly and going through that classic ‘I’m a loner who care about nothing and no one! ….but I’ll help, just this once’ storyline and often staring intensely at hot ladies and the ENTIRE FIRST MOVIE is him building a relationship with a younger woman that is 100% metaphorical little red riding hood/big bad wolf.

I have no defenses against that!

Your favorite X-men?

Hahaha, I would not have expected you to say that, but that's totally fair! Wolverine has a lot of friendships/mentoring relationships/partnerships with younger women (Kitty Pryde, Laura Kinney, Jubilee, Armor, etc.) in the comics and I really enjoy those team-ups, although Wolverine by himself is not that interesting to me.

My favorite X-Man is probably Kitty Pryde. She is probably one of the more "normal" people in comics, and I love how she is awkward and kind but also badass. Also, her superpower (phasing through matter) seems sort of passive but she actually can (and will) do things like pass her fingers into someone's head and threaten to kill them by letting her hand go solid. Endlessly sad that Days of Future Past is not about Kitty like the comics arc it's based on is. An Ellen Page Kitty Pryde movie would be amazing.

Runner-Up is Magik, who is a Russian sorceress who has a giant sword she made out of her soul, who fights demons and wins, and whose mutant power is teleporting in time and space.

Yep. And honestly, I think if I were into the comics, that answer would be different.

My favorite X-Man is probably Kitty Pryde.

I read a really good issue with her and Jessica Drew recently.

Oh, the A+X one? I liked that too.

Have you watched the 2008 Survivors?
Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014 05:47 am (UTC)
Nope. Should I? What's it about?

I recommend it! It's fairly short (12 episodes total with a bit of a :| cliffhanger of an ending as it didn't get renewed for a third season... but it kind of works?), but the characters are so fun! It's basically The Walking Dead, sans zombies. Basically, a horrible flu wipes out about 90% of the world's population, and the audience follows along with a small group of survivors who are basically having to cope with the world as is.

I love it because the cast is quite diverse for something set in England. I can very much see you digging Anya and Tom (although, I'm 1000% down with Abby and Tom in a kind of Leader/Attack Dog dynamic that makes me GLEEFUL, although Abby and Greg are the best parents ever), but everyone in the cast is so good, and the plots kind of go sideways? Definitely recommend as a weekend diversion!
