Got a nasty sore throat. I think the fever that was around last night is gone.

Did I mention that I know exactly which coworker I got this from? She is lucky that I like her, that is all I have to say.

God, I had such plans for today and tomorrow. A sore throat is totally not okay. Also, there is no way that I can go to work tomorrow, so I'll be calling my boss later this afternoon.

Ugh, what do people do when they're sick*? It is just.... ugh, I am so not okay with this on every level.

I'm currently waiting for my mom to wake up and call me back so I can whine to her in RL about this.

And also get a plan of attack for this sore throat (which I am paranoid is going to need me to go to the urgent care to get antibiotics based on the one time that actually happened to me).

*Watch movies and be on LJ. So brace yourselves for some posts, I guess, flist.

Oh no! Feel better soon. If you can make it to a pharmacy, Chloraseptic or similar medicated lozenges are great--the kind that have like a mild local anesthetic in them really make your throat feel better.

I am not kidding with this:

Local honey, hot water, and lemon. It's trite and cliche, but honey's a natural anti-biotic and anti-inflammatory and lemon cuts the mucus. If you can, gargle with saltwater every couple hours. If you're feeling at all nauseated, throw some grated ginger into the honey/lemon/water cup.

Note: Grocery store honey is very likely not actual honey. If there's some on the shelf from a local producer or you or your mom have some from a local farmer's market, use that first. It will help more. However, if all ya got is grocery store honey, do use it! The sugar helps and is soothing on the throat.

Thanks for the tips! Gargling with salt water is one of my go-to things to do when I get sick.

Colds/cold-like diseases are the devil. :'| I hope it's not one of those that needs to get worse before it gets better.
