Here is a screencap meme I gacked from [personal profile] the_sun_is_up my version has none of the fancy graphics, because I totally fail at that. But there are pictures!

BONES:

I love this show enough to do a meme about it!

Because it's awesome, gets better as it goes on, and the procedural aspects of this procedural take a back-seat to the characters.

This is my favorite character.

Angela. Who can do blatant fanservice and have it be in character and not seem tawdry. Also is respected as an artist and an intelligent woman by an enclave of type-A scientists, because she is just that brilliant (and when it comes down to reason versus art, art pwns.)

This is my least favorite character.

But we're supposed to hate him, so it's okay. He's also one of those really rare villains who actually gets to win sometimes.

This pairing was meant to be.

He broke out of the hospital to rescue her, in one of the rare, rare instances of her needing rescue. And then asks to be driven back, cause he was just in an explosion, and bruised all to hell.

This pairing just does not work for me

Booth: straighter than straight. Shown to have multiple relationships with women. Hodgins= shown to be attracted to multiple women, is now madly in love with Angela. I have no idea where people see subtext, beyond two hot, hot men who work together.

My favorite character doing something awesome.

This is Angela, refusing to testify (and later, going to jail) because she isn't going to help send her best friend's father to the electric chair, no matter how guilty he is.

Another awesome character.

I could go on and on about how he's the man you hope you find someday: a delightful mix of science geek, manly man, sensitive man, and rich as sin. He also has enough realistic quirks that it takes you a bit to realize what a lucky, lucky girl Angela is. However, I'm transfixed by his abs right now. Will type later.

Something goofy.

Yeah, Both and Brennan ended up dressing (not by design) as Clark Kent and Wonder Woman after a really bad first date for Halloween. They couldn't get more blatant about the subtext with flashing neon signs. Also, comic geeks for the win!

Why I love watching this.

Because Bones has characters I love, and focuses on them, develops relationships well, values not just intelligence, but different kinds of intellegence. Plus, they have a really good mix of humor and seriousness.

AVATAR:
I love this show enough to do a meme about it!

This is my favorite character.

Okay, everybody take a moment, and look at his hair. Isn't this the perfect Zuko hair? It's not in this stupid, stupid shaved ponytail thing that is going to the chopping block with Gojyo's adventuring pants for crimes against fashion, it's long enough the he doesn't look like he escaped a prison, yet short enough that you don't want to chase after him with scissors. I love how it's just slightly spiky, and slightly tosses, and Jin is a lucky girl that she gets to play with it.

Oh, and there's a whole bunch of other reasons why I love Zuko, but I figure if you're reading my journal, you already know: the drive, the effort he puts into his firebending, how clear it is that he's on the wrong side, the fucked up decision making.... *sigh* I really miss angry, driven Zuko.

This is my least favorite character.

This is that crazy guy from "The Painted Lady". Do you know how much effort it takes to be more annoying than Bumi? Think about that for a minute: more. annoying. than. Bumi.

This pairing was meant to be.

I'm not even going to go into the opposite/opposing/made for each other imagery these two have going on, from their fight at the spirit oasis to their bending styles, but I will say that these two mirror, challenge, and understand each other just about as well as any two people on this show do, especially when you consider how little time they spent together. Think about it: he knew exactly what to say to her when she was crying, and she, despite admitting that she had pictured him as the representation of the people who killed her mother, still reached out to him. And then you have betrayal! Death threats! Gradual acceptance! They're alike enough for a relationship to work, and different enough that they would challenge each other. I find all their interactions fascinating.

This pairing just does not work for me

When they're together, they bring out the worst in each other.

My favorite character doing something awesome.

At this point, he's just snuck into a fire nation fortress and taken out two firebenders with his bare hands and a bucket. Bare hands and a bucket.

Another awesome character.

This is my favorite shot in the whole damn show. That pause where she's been knocked down, takes a breath, and then comes up swinging. I want to find the person on tv tropes who said she didn't get badass until season 2 and smack them. Did they not see "The Waterbending Master"? You know, the episode where she -entirely self-taught- takes on a bender with three lifetimes of experience because she is Katara of the Southern Water Tribe, and she sure as hell isn't going to let some chuvanistic old seal prevent her from fighting the Fire Nation and protecting her family.

Something goofy.

Toph. I don't always like her, or think she's the most awesome character ever, but she has her moments.

Why I love watching this.

It's fantastically well-written, smart in the best way, has character driven story lines, and NOT ONLY IS IT MY KARMIC REWARD FOR A YEAR IN SAIYUKI FANDOM and NOT ONLY DOES IT HAVE THE BEST RATIO OF AWESOME FEMALE TO AWESOME MALE CHARACTERS I HAVE EVER SEEN but it shows both kick ass women (Katara, Suki, Toph, Jun, the dangerous ladies) but also women who are strong in more subtle ways (Yue, Song, Jin [tell me, when was the last time you saw, on any show, a girl just ask the boy she's interested in out of a date, with no shilly-shallying?]) and lets their strength shine by virtue of traditionally female roles (healer, sacrifice) not being the only options available. Yue's decision to become the Moon Spirit feels like an actual choice, because we're seen women before and after choose other ways to fight the Fire Nation.
