And I can I just say, the whole 'aang's love for his entire race is reborn is Katara' thing? I don't find the romantic at. all.

ME, TOO.

And it also reinforces the Kataang incest vibe for me... Romantic pairings/marriages are supposed to be about LEAVING your family unit to form a new one with someone from outside that circle.
