If I was you, I wouldn't worry too much about the training montage. Kishimoto doesn't have that much time to play with before Pain and his lot attack so I doubt that he's going to dedicate too many chapters to the training.
Are we reading the same manga? Kishimoto is NOTORIOUS for doing long, long training montages. And when you have a week to learn something, you don't need to spend a chapter each day, you know?
I thought Juugo's comment strange actually - it seemed so out of place next to what Karin and Suigetsu said. It could be a sign.
It did, a little. I was responding to the fact that placing your mental and emotional stability in the hands of a man who has, what, six generations of fratricide and best-friend-killing, who DID kill his brother and almost killed his best friend, after knocking out the girl he (debatably) cares about is not the best person to cling to.
