There's not just one girl! Yoko and Nia are the main-est, and then there's the Black siblings (Kiyoh, Kinon, Kiyal) and the engine-room woman, and Darry, and those are just the ones I can remember off the top of my head!
And if you're taking about Yoko, I can see where you're getting the Not As Awesome As The Boys thing, because she doesn't pilot a Ganmen, but she has a giant freaking rifle that she's the best with and is awesome in other ways!
And please either take that One Of Them Does Nothing But Worry That His Not Good Enough comment about Simon, or watch the rest of the show and then decide.
