I am really glad that this comic regarding following your dreams crossed my path with commentary because the first time I read it (sans commentary), I liked it but ended up feeling vaguely inferior, like I was bad for not throwing myself more whole-heartedly into life and, you know, having a job I don't love but that lets me be self-supporting. (Speaking of, I got to wax rhapsodic about living alone today. It's been over a year since I moved into my own place and it is still the best thing in the world.)

But on the subject of work, I had a day where I spent too much time check my emails and reading fanfic on my iTouch and was like, 'okay, Red, tomorrow you need to lock your iTouch in your glove box....at least until your lunch break' and not ten minutes later one of my coworkers was like, 'you're so busy today.' And I gave him a 'what the fuck?' look because to me that came out of the blue, and off my expression he continued, '...not that you're not always busy. But today you seemed really focused.' And I went, 'oh. um. yes, I was able to get some projects finished [true] which always satisfying.'

I feel like for my first post of March I should have something epic! (Lives ruined, blood shed) but I don't. No brilliant ideas for a post. Instead, you have scattered thoughts.

[+] I have the worst luck with fannish swag. Beyond, like, two pieces of fanart (that aren't even hung up at the moment) I have regretted every. single. fannish-specific thing that I have ever bought. My mind keeps trying to tally up all the money I've spent on swag at cons and it's really depressing. And I really want to have, like, cool geeky t-shirts but I feel like that is just throwing good money after bad. There are two exceptions: my Firefly t-shirts (a gift), which I wore to rags, and my Sai doll, which was the best twenty-first b-day girl could ask for (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] backtothesea You rock.) So the moral is, I shouldn't buy myself fannish swag. UNFORTUNATELY, I DON'T HAVE  SUGAR DADDY, so I'm S.O.L. on that front. (My bad luck in this even extends to buying OTHER people fannish swag.)

[+] I hate job hunting. It's the worst.

[+] I feel like a Stark Industries vibrator would be either the best or the worst. (Orgasms for world peace!) And now I'm imagining Tony building Pepper a vibrator. Pre-Iron Man it would be:
Pepper: "Mr. Stark, this is a completely inappropriate gift."
Tony: "I'm being helpful and considerate, Ms. Potts. I know you don't have time to date. Fine, if you don't want it..."

And after they start dating it would Tony would present her with this red and gold and arc!reactor-ed (that would be where you change the setting) MONSTROSITY.
Tony: For when you miss me and my penis while I'm on missions.
Pepper: That's the most horrifying thing I have ever seen. Also, you're not as good at engineering vibrators as [blah, blah, company in Sweden].

[+] In case you're not watching the recs at unfitforsociety, you should be. Especially if you're an Avengers fan. There's always a mix of pairing and the most recent post has some great Steve/Darcy fics.

[+] When watching this Thursday's LBD, I have to admit that Read more... )

[+] This is a fabulous LBD fanart. Congratulations on the rest of your life, Lizzie B.
