I think it does worked. Technically, we don't really see Kabuto being the whole "perverted scientist" trope, but just Kabuto being, well, Kabuto, it's not too hard to imagine him doing that just to screw with his opponents' heads.
Sorry if I go wee bit off tangent, since it just occurred to me: I think what I find Kabuto/Sakura particularly interesting is that before Kabuto went out and revealed himself as a traitor, he and Sakura get along well enough, but not enough for Sakura to gain Kabuto's interest as a respected combatant at the time. I honestly think that this is a good thing for Sakura's well being, since Kabuto is known to leave his mark on others.
