Stupid Thing (Sai x Sakura)
"That was a very stupid thing to do, Hag," Sai admonished.
Sakura laughed wetly.
Blood splattered Sai's face.
His hands carefully flexed on her upper arms in irritation. He was uncomfortable; Sakura had knocked him into a pile of rocks when she'd decided to position herself between him and the hundreds of senbon their opponent had tried to kill Sai with.
"A medic's duty is to heal the other members of the team, not become injured herself," he continued.
Sakura made an agreeing sound, rested her head on his shoulder. Sai could feel liquid soaking her clothes, seeping from her body to his.
"Tsunade will be so mad at me," she murmured and then was silent.
It's Hard To Stop The Wanting (Sakura x Kakashi)
Kakashi ambles up the the cenotaph after the other mourners have scattered to various homes and bars and missions.
He realizes, sometime after the sun has finished setting, his grey eye slowly tracing its way from one name to another (Shizune, Tenzo, Lee, Tsunade, Sai and now, Ino) connecting them like his father used to point out constellations in the sky: Sakura is now even more alone than he is.
He stands for a while longer, letting that realization burrow into his bones like a fever.
Then he goes to find his former student.
Sakura is lying on the floor of her apartment. She hasn't turned on any lights.
In the forty minutes between his rather disrespectfully cheerful "yo" and her response the radio politely plays morose, melancholy songs, the lyrics of any of which could have neatly doubled as a suicide note.
"I loved her," Sakura says, broken, and curls up on her side.
Sakura, naked, licking at Ino's neck. Ino fingering Sakura's sex, her fingers moist and moving slickly as Sakura throws back her head with a throaty moan.
Kakashi almost chokes on envy and arousal and shame.
"She was my best friend," Sakura continues and the relief that Kakashi feels his truly despicable.
"Mm," he says. He walks towards her kitchen, clicking the radio off as he passes by with a violent flick of his wrist. When he returns with a cup of tea, Sakura still hasn't moved.
