1. Barbara Gordon, the first Batgirl, Commissioner Gordon's daughter, librarian, and all around badass. She's stubborn and intelligent, and one of the few members of the Batfamily who joined just because of a genuine desire for justice, not due to "MY PARENTS ARE DEAD!" brooding and misanthropy. As a red-haired, bespectacled Batman fan who works in a library, she's like. My patron saint.
She seemed to have been fridged when she got shot in the spine by the Joker and was confined to a wheelchair, but she ended up becoming Oracle, one of the main information sources of the DC universe and awesome hacker. She started her own badass all-female superhero team, and actually became more important since the accident. Still bugs the hell out of me though.
2. Around '04, when I first started reading the series. Haven't wavered since! It started because I immediately fell in love with the two of them, and thought Sakura's crushing was pretty much the cutest thing ever. It loved it even more after the Forest of Death, when she actually started to get him. I like that she's been able to develop beyond a little girl who just saw someone cute to someone who honestly wants to understand him, and that her love (and loss) has made her stronger, as opposed to weaker. Also, Sasuke needs a good punch in the face, and I think she's one of the only people who could help him. She's always been there for him, and in his own way, he's shown that he respects her and appreciates that.
Sure, it's tragic and dysfunctional, but that just makes it more interesting. I still keep hoping the two of them'll have a happy ending. ♥
3. "Hospital Bed Crawl", by The Hush Sound. It's not the best song on their new album, but I do love the lyrics, as stalker-tastic as they are.
4. Zutara, hands down. I love the tension between them, and that she could, and would, kick his ass without hesitation. Out of all the characters in the series, they really had a struggle to understand eachother despite their simularities, but they were able to pull through it in the end. I just like seeing two tough, stubborn people butt heads. I feel like no matter what they do with eachother, they could always keep it interesting and passionate.
Plus, I adore the concept of couples from opposite nations, especially ones with a history of friction like theirs.
5. Wild Magic, since it was the first one I ever read. Also, I was one of those girls who was ridiculously in love with ponies.
I think as characters, I might've preferred Alanna, but I liked all of her heroines too much to want to pick one. I was one of those girls who thought princesses were pretty cool, but girls who fought monsters with swords were considerably more interesting, so I was happy to have discovered her books.
