Can you point me to where Minekura has said that? I've never heard anything along those lines before.
ETA: And I'd argue that Ahiru/Fakir is the series central pairing, and canon. I don't think ending up together/not ending up together is the main definer of whether or not something is canon, if there's something (not another canon pairing, but death, exile, etc.) that specifically prevents that ending.
