Tee-Hee!

Okay, I did not hate the Konohamarulearns Naruto's badass signature technique the way a lot of people did (it helps that at that point, I was like, 'is this about Kakashi? no? cannot manage to care) but that said, this icon made me tee-hee:

it's by [livejournal.com profile] acony_icons , btw.

D-does Kakashi know Rasengan? I was kind of under the impression that he didn't. Or that he doesn't use it.

I was annoyed by it not because it's stealing Naruto's signature move, because he's not the only one who uses it, but because it's yet another example of a male character god-modding in Naruto. I'm sorry, you can't whip that shit out and then be all "yeah, remember that time Naruto taught it to him? Oh of course not, I never showed that, LOL okay well here it is then!"

Bad storytelling, Kishi. Bad. I think the training works better when it's implied but off-screen (Kakashi teaching Sasuke Chidori, Tsunade teaching Sakura medical jutsu and super strength).

Honestly, I was not annoyed with Konohamaru learning rasengan, especially since Naruto taught him.

What fucking drove me up a fucking wall was that it takes Chouji, Chouji's dad and Kakashi getting beat all to hell to take out one body, Hinata doesn't even land a hit on the main body, but freaking Konohamaru takes about a clone.

Which is to say, yep, another fucking example of a male godmodding.

And I think Kakashi has an incomplete form of rasengan that he never uses, because his own jutsu are way more awesome (the lightning wolves will never not be win).

I see where you're coming from. Unfortunately, it IS shounen manga, so they can't very well go about having the girls and grown-ups kicking too much ass, it might scar those poor widdle adolescent male minds if the boys aren't the strongest characters even if it makes no sense.

Sasuke going all godmode annoyed me more...because, well, it's Sasuke. At least I LIKE Konohamaru. ;)

And lightning wolves beat rasengan any day!

Perhaps it's more accurate to say shounen jump manga, since soul eater doesn't have this problem.

Oh, their poor little male egos wouldn't be able to take it! Oh noes!
*nods*

Honestly, I have read enough GOOD shonen to know what the really frustrating mistakes are due to the mis-steps of the author - NOT innate tropes of the genre.
