"Where is she? Is she alright?"
Aang looked cornered.
"She's upstairs," he mumbled, "she's been upstairs since... since Sokka died."
Zuko started towards the second floor and then stopped, arrested by the dull, shocked look in Aang's eyes.
"You okay?"
Tears welled in Aang's eyes.
"I think there's something wrong with her. She... it wasn't even the full moon and she just... she just ripped them apart. Just reached out her hands and... it was like she wasn't Katara anymore. She killed them and then she just... she laughed. She laughed, Zuko."
Zuko thought of his loved ones killed, crushed, broken, dead. "I would have done the same," he said softly.
"No you wouldn't!" Aang protested automatically. "You wouldn't have done that!"
Zuko looked at Aang's clenched fists, his bright eyes. He held the Avatar's gaze, watched as Aang's shoulders slowly dropped.
"It's like she wasn't Katara anymore." He sounded lost.
Zuko said nothing and climbed the stairs.
