Gracefully She Dreamed Him Free

gacked from [livejournal.com profile] despairinbeauty :

1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."

2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.

3. You will post the answers to the questions (and the questions themselves) on your blog or journal.

4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.

5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions. And thus the endless cycle of the meme goes on and on and on and on ...

1) If you were to write and publish a first novel, what sort of story would it be?

I can't tell you. Sorry. I actually have two novels that I'm working on at the moment but for emotional, legal and professional reasons, I can't get into specifics, in case someone who reads my lj now reads comes across my book in two years and connects [livejournal.com profile] redbrunja  with my real name. Race!fail taught me several things but the most immediate was that I need to be WAY more paranoid about keeping my fandom life and my real one separate.

I can promise that there will be badass ladies and a dash of romance, though.

2) What characters do you tend to gravitate towards in general, and why?

There is a Japanese proverb that goes, "fall down seven times, get up eight" which I think fits every character I've ever really, really loved. They're the characters who keep trying, who have a goal and attempt it, even if it seems impossible. Also, they have a core of steel inside, regardless of how tough the rest of the world views them.

3) What subjects are you most interested in reading?

Academically or for pleasure? Academically, I'm loving all my course reading - it's developmental psychology and gothic literature aka the interesting lit.

For pleasure, I'm a sci-fi/fantasy girl, although I branch out a lot into mystery and romance.

4) How would you go about in writing out a fanfic, particularly when you feel uninspired?

That depends. If I have story ideas that I want to write but I'm just not feeling inspired, I'll write out all the details I can think of, and worry about making it flow and be interesting to read when I'm feeling more creative. When I don't know what I want to read, I meme.

5) What would be your current top ten favorite books?

Kitty and the Midnight Hour, Alanna: The First Adventure, Glass Houses, Tramps Like Us, War For The Oaks, Just Listen, Dime Store Magic, Faking It, Into The Storm, Blood & Chocolate.

Can you give me more details about what happened?

1.) What prompted Office Duties? Like, where did you get the idea, what sparked the muse?

2.) What other Naruto pairings are you into besides Sakura/Kakashi?

3.) Is there a particular manga or book you'd really loving at the moment?

4.) What is one thing I don't know about you that you'd like to tell me?

5.) Last song to just blow you away.

Thanks!
And the particular story is real...long. The short version is that I have always made it clear that I want my private life and fandom life very very much separate. Another person in the fandom that I knew irl ended up outing me, whether by sheer idiocy or spite I never stuck around to figure out. Suddenly my name, age, where I lived, where I went to school, it was all public and it simultaneously infuriated me and scared me. I'm under firm belief that if I ever wish to divulge that information to someone else, it will be my choice, and my choice only. In this case, it was not only out of my hands but on the fucking internet.
I tried to ask for an explanation, but we never really talked after that. Like I said, i don't know if this is because she was embarrassed that she failed SO HARD or she was angry with me for some reason but it was kind of a big...deal. I don't mean to sound pretentious at all, but I was fairly "well known" in the Gundam Wing fandom back in the 90's and I still have very good friends from that fandom, but it got very shitty and ill-spirited after that happened. There's a little more to it, but that's the bare bones. Not cute.

No worries, I figured it was from you.

And yeah... that sounds bad. I mean, having that kind of information on the internet? That is dangerous in this day and age.
