Summary: Having Mifune work with her in the first place was supposed to be just a formality.

She didn't even notice when Black Star used her.

Tsubaki and her partner were so tuned to each other that consciously feeling his influence on her form was like tasting water or smelling camellias.

It wasn't like that with Mifune.

Having him work with her in the first place was supposed to be a formality; an inconsequential skill to check off before he was officially instated as a teacher at Shibusen.

Mifune was clearly skilled with weapons and had the spiritual power to not need an amplifier but this situation was the furthest thing from inconsequential that Tsubaki could imagine.

As he moved through katas in a secluded part of the forest, Tsubaki could feel him. Feel his hands around her hilt, grip firm and commanding. He ran a thumb across her crossguard, the calluses catching faintly on her surface and she bit back a gasp. He'd thrust forward and Tsubaki's whole soul would tingle. A crescent slash and she'd thrum with anticipation.

She tried to suppress the emotions, tried to make sure that she was the only one feeling- feeling... The only one feeling.

She tried to ignore the echo of desire. Tried to tell herself that she was imagining the faint groan in Mifune's voice when he moved her in a particularly complex pass.

When Mifune had his hands on her, Tsubaki noticed.

Ooooh, delicious! Mifune/Tsubaki is so wonderful.

I really liked your Soul/Maka dirtiness, but this one was really elegant. It's also something I've thought about a bit during the series, so it was really nice seeing someone write about it. And the contrast between the lack of noticing for Black Star and the awareness with Mifune is very lovely. Any chance I can poke you into writing more of this?

They are.

Mifune and Tsubaki are both very elegant characters - Tsubaki in particular reminds me enormously of Yaone given screentime and an arc of her own, and while Mifune doesn't ping me hard as a Hakkai character (not nearly insane enough, for one thing) he also has a kindness and a gentlemanlyness about him that is hella attractive.

Basically, their personalities and character designs mesh like a tux and James Bond.

Any chance I can poke you into writing more of this?

this was pretty damn perfect. i havent really seen a lot mifune/tsubaki fics that keep them in character. its just the right mix of thought and emotion and dirty - and the fact that its so short makes it more impressive

What I'd really love to see some time is maybe a morning after style fic. I don't care how they get in bed (or if the sex is even included) but I'd love to see them sort of waking up together for the first time. It'd be sweet and adorable and awkward all rolled into one!
