True Blood, Season 1

-I'd forgotten that Rene was the killer. And was super disappointed about that, given that he and Arelene were sweet together.

-The Bill/Sookie relationship grew on me, mainly on the strength of him being really nice to her when no one else was. The 'she's mine!' 'I'm his!' stuff sets my back up, but at least Sookie is participating in it too. That makes it come across as more consensual BDSM then Sookie as property (which is what those conversations with just Bill and Eric come across as).

-Speaking of Eric, I am not noticing a significant characterization difference between him and Bill. If they had the same hair color I'd have trouble keeping track of which one wanted to mainstream and which one didn't.

-I grew to have much affection for Sam. Largely because of how nicely he was treating Tara and because I'm a sucker for people who try to get the things in their life they want, and also because his backstory was epically cruel.

-Although I'm on his side about not telling potential girlfriends/friends-with-benefits about being a shifter. That is SUCH a dicy, dangerous piece of information that does not effect his lovers that I would play that close to my chest until I was in a committed relationship and SURE of my partner.

-I love Terry. "Yeah, there's dead people I wish were here too." "I can't listen to politicians no more. They give me seizures. Can we change it to my home decorating show now?" My god, every single one of his lines is gold.

-Amy was awesome. Something about that actress's teeth or mouth or both - I thought she was adorable, and I have always known that going vegan made people crazy. I ALWAYS KNEW IT.

-Amy was so awesome she actually made Jason interesting. Now THAT is impressive

-I just want Tara to get her head right. To that end, I'm kinda pleased that Mary Anne is taking her under her wing, and very curious to see how that is going to play out with Sam. Although I know it will end very, very badly.

-I've very pleased that despite TWO love interests rushing to save Sookie, she was the one to take out Rene (with a mother fucking shovel! which just makes it that much more awesome).

Lol, I love Terry too. He just gets better and better. And Andy. he's a jerk, but he cracks me up.

Amy was crazy, but her purpose was to show the other side of Jason. She saw him as a real person with potential, and thats why he loved her. She made him realize he can be more, and that theme continues in S2. He still fucks up, because he's Jason, but at least he's trying now. I like him.

you'll see more differences between Bill and Eric in season 2. I rewatched S1 again recently with my sister, and was really surprised to realize how much of an asshole Bill becomes in S2. A boring stick in the mud asshole at that. I'd just phased it in, I guess, but seeing how sweet and flirtatious he was in S1 really made it clear.

Eric is devious, but in that charming "you're so bad but I love you anyway" way. He has more humor, and more wisdom, and in certain ways, I honestly think Bill exhibits more cruelty than Eric who is supposedly the bad one. Eric does bad deeds, but Bill is mean, you know? And he's more sexist. Eric is 1000 years old, has been many places and seen many things. Bill is mostly still stuck in his Old South ways, and it shows.

I'm glad you came around about Sam! No pun intended, but he really is a kicked puppy. Season Two gets better. You'll wanna squeeze the ever-loving breath out of him.

After Lafayette, Terry is my next favorite. He's definitely got his PTSD but he's so sweet.

Amy. Fuck Amy. And fuck Jason two. The actress playing her did a brilliant job, but fuck Amy. You're right though that she DID make Jason interesting, which was... weird.

Eric... *sighs* My boy. Season Two REALLY sees a pick up in his character. One of my favorite scenes ever with him is kind of a love/hate thing at the moment, which I can't get into until you watch Season Two. You'll know which scene though, I'm pretty sure of it. I love the actor who plays him.

Season Two. Get on that. It's a LOT more awesome than Season One. INSANELY intense stuff.

Terry and Arlene are my favorite characters on the show, so definitely agreed. The Arlene x Rene thing is absolutely heartbreaking.

I think the only difference between Bill and Eric is the attitude. Bill is more of a square, where Eric seems to be treating the mainstreaming thing like a game for his amusement. <3

Considering Sookie was forced to 'participate in it' because she felt she was in danger if she refuted the claim, I don't really see eye-to-eye with you on that.

I really didn't like Andy in season 1, but I adore him in Season 2 even though he is such a jerk. And Arlene and her family I love to bits, and especially Terry. I mean, screw Eric for all I care, I'll have Terry over in my house any day because the man is that awesome.
