I haven't read the books yet, but I expect I'll be getting them as a Christmas present.

The thing that made me stop and do a double take was the fact that I felt bad about her death. Normally, I don't feel bad when people die that you aren't supposed to like, even if I like them. I stop and go, "grr, plot movement, plot movement." And I didn't really like Vicki at all, but when he stabbed her, I actually felt really, really bad.

I was hugely Stefan/Elena in the beginning, and now, I think Damon's a far more developed character and has more depth than Stefan does. And I think it's because we've seen the Remorseful Vampire so many times, especially now, what with Twilight and everything. Stefan does what a vampire does: he kills and takes what he wants. But he does care, he just wishes he didn't. It's different.
