Ereaders are SO FUN. I would definitely say do your research regarding type, but they really, really, REALLY are awesome for people who read on the go. Especially fic. Oh, my GOD, THE FIC I've read on mine! I always hated sitting and reading novel-length stuff on the computer. With my reader, I can read it pretty much anywhere.

That being said, do yourself a favor and honestly think about whether or not you'd use it on a regular basis. If you don't think you will, go ahead and skip it. But if you think you might... DO IT.
