I ship Gale/Madge not because I don't want Katniss/Gale.
I'm not saying you do - I'm staying the speaking personally, pairing both couples off like that feels too neat to be satisfying.
While Gale and Katniss share that tight childhood love, Peeta and Katniss have that connection that transpired within the Games that is exclusive only for them, and that's why they kind of makes more awesome than any other pair there is.
That is certainly what attracts me to that pairing! Plus, I think Peeta would be harder for Katniss to love, simply because she DOESN'T have the gut deep, wordless communication that she and Gale have, which makes that pairing very interesting to me.
As for Haymitch/Effie, well, YES. They spell spark!
