Agreed. She clearly put a lot of time and effort into that essay, but part of the effort is because she's making castles out of air.
a) he's going to die or b) he is a pawn of the Capitol i.e. he is lying for his feelings for Katniss after all (WHICH IS UNLIKELY).
I'm going to go with 'he's really that good' because all other options would break my heart terribly (and b doesn't make sense at all. He threw away his knife! He tried to die for her! If that's not love I don't know what love is.)
