As for fandom goodies, I haven't seen any good HxY lately, but there have been a few pieces of real quality Gojyo het in the last year or so -- a little Gojyo/Yaone, and a couple of different amazing, heartwrenching Gojyo/Kanan pieces. (Also a cracktastic-sounding but remarkably good AU Sanzo/Lirin, believe it or not!) There's also been a little Gyokumen/Yaone and Gyokumen/Hwan fic, if you're in the mood for some really dark yuri.
And as for A:TLA reminiscing, you might want to drop by snarp's journal, where there's been some really interesting meta on gender issues in animanga recently, including one post focused specifically on Avatar. Lots of juicy discussions going on there, and I'm trying to lure her into Black Lagoon. (Speaking of which, there's been some nifty BL het and yuri produced for the last couple of rounds of springkink)
