In case fandom osmosis has not informed you of the dets of Being Human, it is a British series (first season, six episodes, second season, eight episodes) about a ghost, a vampire, and a werewolf who all live together in a flat in... I'm blanking on the name, but it's not a city in England with much cachet.

Here are my thoughts on the first season:

–I'm kind of hooked despite finding the pacing too slow.

–I love and am frustrated by Annie. Her arc was just painful to watch (and I think really realistic for an abused woman). Her realization about her death, her failed attempt to haunt Owen (who creeped me the the fuck out when he was convincing his current girlfriend that Annie wasn't real at the same time as he rubbed Annie's face in the fact that she was cheated on) was so hard to watch - I wanted her to start throwing objects around, not letting Owen take her power. When she finally stood up to him, with George and Mitchell at her back, I would have cheered if I hadn't been watching the episode at 2 am. As hard as watching her be beaten down was, I adored Annie's end of season power up. When she charged in to rescue the vampire victims I almost clapped

–I like George although he makes me really uncomfortable with the crying. Not that I think it's unrealistic for his character (and I like how they have a male character be emotional) guys crying just makes me incredibly, incredibly uncomfortable. And then I forget that when he's smiling or comfortable or being propositioned by Jack Harkness in the future he's another delicious example of a British actor who is kinda goofy looking but also hot. And again, I really liked George's arc of accepting the wolf and killing evil vampire copper.

–Okay, first of all, Mitchell is straight-up dreamy. Now that that's out of the way, I greatly enjoyed him befriending that boy and the mob mentality that he ran into turning him away from his attempt to be human. First of all, it's so realistic that a top carnivore would eventually go 'humanity - not worth not snacking on' and it's something you never see from the 'good vampire.'

–Nina was awesome. I can't wait to find out more about her scars.

–I was so beyond thrilled when Lauren died. She and Mitchell were incredibly uninteresting together and she didn't provide anything new for his character to react to, imho.

–I really enjoyed Annie's ghost boyfriend. Simply as an episode, he was a great character and the episode was funny and touching. Additionally, it was a brilliant way to get the audience familiar with how ghosts move on without adding exposition to Annie's brush with the after-life (as opposed to the in-between life). ETA: Although the second time the door appeared, something about the sounds they used reminded me of Doctor Who, so I actually expected to see the Tardis.

–One thing that did bug me is that I wish the writers had paid more attention to the actual mythology of ghosts and vampires. Why could Mitchell go out in the daylight? Why could Annie touch things before developing her poltergeist powers? Why could Mitchell and George touch her? Was it just because they are touched by the supernatural as well? These are questions I want answered!

–As awesome as George taking on evil vampire copper was, by the middle of their conversation I was tapping my metaphoric watch going 'what, are you trying to monologue each other to death?'
