Okay, so I'm noticed on icons this tendency to label Amy as 'The Girl Who Waited' while Rose gets to be Bad Wolf wtf which is wrong.
Because, sure, when she was seven she waited all night for the Doctor.... before going on to write comic books and make dolls and force her boyfriend to dress up as 'The Raggedy Doctor' (question: when will that stop being awesome? answer: never) and grow up and become a kiss-o-gram and when the Doctor showed up she hit him with a cricket bat and locked his tie in a car door and didn't ever let him forget he was late, late, late and then she was about to get married (hardly the sign of a girl with her life on hold) before the Doctor had to practically seduce her to step into the TARDIS.
My point is 'the girl who waited' has a very passive vibe to it. Amelia Pond did not spend her life pining for the Doctor - or if she did, she pined very, very badly.

She doesn't wait for you to turn up, so much as make you pay for being late.
With space/timetravelling adventures. And snogs. Y'know.
