He has incomparably blue eyes. I've never seen anything as blue as his determined, troubled eyes. They swallow me up; I want to swim past his irises and into his soul.
I watch him as he moves, shoulders slumped, mouth held firm despite it all. He wants to be a tower, but he is a tower. A blue-eyed tower with tousled blonde hair that begs for me to run my fingers through it. His strength holds us afloat. Even though he's suffering, he fights on to keep the one he loves above the water. His bravery makes me want to cry from gratitude.
I have blue eyes. Unlike Katniss's, like Peeta's. They stare, and his stare right back at me. The troubled clouds have cleared, and his face melts into a longing smile. He wants what he can't have. You can have me. You can have me, Peeta, I whisper.
I blink, and he blinks, and I step back from the window and away from my reflection; the blue eyes recede, no longer staring into mine. And Peeta is really inside, not out in the cold, snowy wind with me, but his face is just like that.
He's watching my sister, who deserves him so much more than I, but may yet throw him away.
The bitter day suddenly feels so much colder, and so much more desolate.
AN: Prim kinda ended up sounding older than I intended..
