Someone on tumblr mentioned that an unpopular Once Upon A Time opinion they held was that
they did not want Belle to remember her fairy tale past. And to be honest, I completely agree. What I passionately want to see (or read) is Mr Gold trying to stay away from Belle "for her own good" but not being able to... and then, because he does know who she is and what she likes, he ends up using that prior knowledge to woo/befriend her again. So we get the deliciousness of that whole set-up PLUS the angst of Belle finally remembering her past, after she's already in a relationship with Mr Gold. Come on, guys, you know that would be ridiculously awesome. (And by awesome, I mean deliciously angsty.)

I mean the fluff monster in me wants her to remember but the plot and angst whore in me wants her not to. It would be absolutely fascinating to watch Gold's reaction and having to navigate that. And also how to woo Belle without the whole kidnapping thing when he just assaulted her father! It would be good.

I AGREE! I want to see all possible permutations of this pairing. ALL OF THEM.

I have to admit I find that prospect very disturbing, and I don't know that the show has gone dark enough to get there yet. It'd be interesting if they went that route though.

From a storytelling point of view it would be a million times more interesting to have Belle not remember. If she remembered right away then that kind of takes away a lot of the tension in the story. By having her not remember they can play with the angst for a lot longer... and god knows OUAT likes to go for maximum angst and drawing things out.
