Shows are ruined for me by the writers being heavy-handed with the 'romance', tbh; they want it both ways, to make it clear THIS IS THE ONLY LEGIT OTP, but then they wuss out of exploring it properly because of *'ohnoes* Moonlighting Curse'. *eyeroll*
Agreed. I do think it's a challenge to do RST well but I think it's very much possible (and can absolutely give examples). And there are ways to drag out the romance without making the audience super-frustrated, too - but most often I feel like shows just refuse to commit to anything.
