I've never tried it, but I'm very very tempted to get one of those little shells myself! I'm guessing just from the instructions they give for application that it's probably no harder to work with than regular stuff on a lipbrush, and since it's water-soluble and buildable coverage I'm expect the texture when it dries is pretty light -- more of a lipstain than a waxy color. But that's just guessing, I could be totally wrong here!
