I don't want to go into detail on this week's Green Lantern, because it sucked,so I'm just going to paraphrase what I said to
phemyscira when the preview came out:
Here the the problem - Aya has spent a season being a lawful good character. She's logical, she's clear-sighted... an in-character Aya-going-evil-arc would involve her saving the manhunters (which I liked) and then doing things like having very aggressive protection measures (like, I would buy her having lethal defenses for her robot army). Kidnapping Carol and making her fight Atrocitious is PETTY, it's chaotic, and it puts innocent people (Carol and anyone who Atrocitious hurts if he gets his freedom) in danger. And then, when Aya didn't like the results, she ignored them. ROBOTS DON'T GO EVIL LIKE THAT. I find it illogical that AYA would go evil like that. She's be a lawful evil character, not a chaotic evil one. Aya is a character who argued that Razer didn't have the right to die until/unless/without making restitution for his crimes. I don't buy Aya being so careless and petty and illogical, emotions on or off, evil or good.
I'm not even going into the bullshit, superficial conversations about love that ignores ALL THE MULTIPLE EXAMPLES of people sacrificing their lives for others because of duty or friendship (PUREST LOVE OF ALL) or the biological/evolutionary reasons for love to exist OR the nuanced idea (which is alluded to but actually explored) that being in love (reciprocated or not, long-term or not) can reveal truths, cause someone to grow and change in positive ways, or basically lead to them being a more mature individual.
(And yeah, it can also be terrible, painful, and cause people to behave like monsters.)
Also, Carol was in the perfect position to join the crew of the Interceptor - so sad she didn't. She and Hal have great banter and I love her sharp as tacks businesswoman attitude contrasted with the operatic sci-fi elements of the show.
I found this on tumblr and it's super-relevant to, like, everything:
