I think Steve is, by the Doctor's definition, a good man. I think that having a really strong, core deep understanding of right and wrong is pretty pivotal to who Steve is. Like, I feel like him losing his moral compass would never occur to him, because I DON'T think Steve would even start on the slippery slope of losing his moral way (unlike pretty much EVER other Avenger)
No disrespect taken! I mean, I've always known that Steve is the kind of character that I have a hard time grasping, but I want to understand him and everything you've said makes perfect sense. BTW, that clip is going to be my new go-to way of thinking about Steve.
A couple of different fics have posited that Bucky hadn't been around, Steve would have died of, basically, ill-health and poverty, and that really struck me as accurate. So I think that Steve's fears center around being a burden and being unable to contribute.
