One of the worst things about Supernatural is the lack of female characters - or the lack of women with any longevity on the show. It's like the writers can't bear to have their phallocentric sensibilities threatened by women in power.
Pretty much. Plus Supernatural has an 'appease the slash fangirls sensibility' which means that when they DO write in female characters, they most vocal fans hate them,
One of the ads orignially promoting the show called it, "Buffy with a brain," which I found incredibly offensive.
So offensive. And way to insult the audience that you WANT watching the show, because honestly, I think there fans of one have a good chance of liking the other. I loved the first season of Veronica Mars, personally. Then it all went downhill.
All things I hope will be addressed and improved upon in the upcoming movie, although Sif having an unrequited thing for Thor doesn't sound promising.
The thought of a Sif/Thor/Jane love triangle makes me want to groan out loud.
