So I'm looking for Shado/Slade fic and imagining that I'm going to have to dig through a couple pages of fics that read like they were written by twelve-year-old to find something good. I go to A03 and:



IS THIS A CRUEL JOKE? ARE YOU HONESTLY TELLING ME THAT THERE ARE NO SHADO/SLADE FICS ON AO3?

There was a conversation ages ago on tumblr about the age differences between Felicity Smoak and Roy Harper (24-26 to 17) and Felicity Smoak and John Diggle (24-26 to mid-thirties) and how that made some people feel less than okay about shipping them, because that was too much of an age gap, and I was like,





Oh, sweeties. You just sound so young. And new to the ways of fandom.

I feel like some fandom have different ages, you know? And Arrow is young and innocent.

oh jesus, that's an age gap? reeeally? where were these people when we were shipping Harry with... all the profs, including Dumbles? I am just imagining their minds EXPLODING

Right? Or the twenty-something with the thirteen year old? (Push). Or the actual explicit student teacher pairings. Like, oh, babies, you are all so young.

I can see where some teens would be a little less inclined to ship Felicity and Roy via that age difference (even I'm like, well, it's not the age difference but the life experience and that's shrinking in Season 2 but it's still there) but Felicity and John are not...even...an age difference.

Though I never shipped Harry with any of his professors, but then I'm more of a peer-peer type shipper.

Yeah, John and Felicity, and I’m like… that’s two legal adults of approximately the same age who do not have any iffy power differentials between them. It’s hard to find ships THAT EQUAL all the way through, you know?
