What bothers me about the grimdark manpain stuff (apart from, y'know, the manpain) is the way the writers and the fans seem to think it's SO MATURE AND WELL WRITTEN YO. Winter Soldier was issue after issue of Bucky whining and making really poor decisions and plot lines that made no sense. It's not mature or well written because he beat up a few guys while drinking, and it felt to me like Brubaker was kind of ashamed of writing in the superhero genre.
