WOW, WHAT A GREAT WEEK IT'S BEEN FOR KILLING LADIES SO DUDES COULD HAVE MAN-PAIN, AM I RIGHT? DAMN, FRIDGING THOSE BITCHES JUST NEVER GOES OUT OF STYLE.

  • Felicity making the call on bringing in Barry and the subsequent argument with Oliver was delightful.

  • I can't fucking believe how they decided to kill Shado. Like, it's fucking beyond the pale. It's fridging with an added dose of asian woman<white woman, all so Oliver can be more tormented. And Slade. Don't you love it when they fridge a woman so two different dudes can be tormented. (This episode started so delightful and then it did make such horrible storytelling choices.)

  • And like, I keep remembering Sara's question about Slade AND SHADO, like she didn't know what happened to them.... Am I an idiot for hoping that SOMEHOW Shado comes back to life?

  • I did enjoy seeing Shado and Slade in good lightning, thought. And Slade in a suit and eyepatch was great. IMAGINE HOW GREAT IT WOULD BE IF SHADO WAS ALIVE AND MAKING OUT WITH SLADE ON THAT DESK, HOW GREAT WOULD THAT BE?

  • God, I couldn't even enjoy a little bit Slade screaming Shado's name, rushing to save Shado, and then clutching her dead body. I WANTED A LITTLE VICIOUS JAB OF PLEASURE, BUT SHADO'S DEATH WAS SO FUCKING TIED WITH OLIVER AND HIS STUPID HAIR AND HIS STUPID MAN-PAIN THAT I COULDN'T.

  • ...and then they killed the ONE FUCKING FEMALE COP on the police squad. REALLY? REALLY?

  • ...and then the black cop died in an extended way.

  • I think Barry might be ENORMOUSLY BISEXUAL. And you know me, when I am saying that...

  • That said, I really enjoyed the sort-of backdoor pilot for Flash. Do we have a date on when that show is starting?

  • So, yeah. Selected parts of this episode were really cute and made me want more, parts made me want to slap the writers.

I will reply to this post when I stop internally ranting about what a COMPLETELY HORRIBLE CHOICE THEY MADE WITH SHADO'S EXIT STORY!!!

They turned her into nothing more than a useless damsel! More than that; it's probably the worst choice the writers have EVER made on the show, and that's including the casting of Laurel Lance - and her ridiculous backstory with Oliver.

I was 90% convinced that Shado was already dead, but seriously? That's how they choose to off her? She had so much potential, but in the end she was reduced to nothing more than an angst object for the men in her life. I thought they'd at least keep her around for the rest of the season, but no... She can't be interesting in her own right, she has used as a dramatic prop to make her male counterparts' storylines more interesting.

I don't know, maybe Ivo has some magical elixir he can use to revive her and bring her back from the dead. Probably not, but I don't even know how to process the clustefuck they made of her story right now.

I loved this episode otherwise, but Shado's death was so egregious and poorly done. I mean, I want to think the show is better than that, but... *sigh*. That was such lazy writing. I suppose one can hope nobody really dies on this show -- I mean, Slade and Roy both died and came back, not to mention Malcolm Merlyn and Sara -- but I am not holding my breath when it comes to Shado.

I did enjoy seeing Shado and Slade in good lightning,

Heh. This show in present is so pretty whereas the Island Stuff is lit in such tired classic Vancouver Supernatural/Sleepy Hollow palette. It was a nice change.

I'm pretty sure Shado isn't dead for the same reason you pointed up there, that when Sarah came back she asked about Shado (twice, I think and once about Slade). Why would she do that if Shado had been killed right in front of her? So I'm clinging desperately to that until I'm proving wrong. And if I am I will rage so bad. Cuz no. No no no no no no.

Slade + eyepatch + suit + hair = all so very good.

The second Lance's partner said yes and that Lance had to call his wife I knew he was going to die and I got pissed. Then they made me think for a second he'll survive but no. We can't have nice things. Like that lady cop.

Barry? Totally crushing on Ollie, too.

There *were* such cute and good parts! Like Felicity not giving an inch to angry!Oliver. I loved that. I like how this isn't a new development either, she's always stood up to him.

Agreed on everything.

I'm betting that Shado isn't dead, and will come back with a vengeance.

I hope so.

Yeah, I WANT Shado to be alive and coming back, but she’s a girl, so part of me really expects her to stay dead, and thinks that Sara’s line was the writers flubbing up. (I have a theory, based on what interviews said about Shado and Slade versus what happened, that how and which episode Shado died in was a last minute decision.)

That Felicity has always told Oliver the truth and truths he doesn’t want to admit/acknowledge is one of the reasons that I ship them, and I’m really glad that even though the writers are putting more emphis on that ship, they’re showing that Felicity has a spine of steel.

No breath-holding for me, either.

The rules for ladies returning from the dead are TOTALLY different from the rules about dudes returning for the dead. It makes me want to write a show where male characters are killed off left and right and awesome lady villains die and then return even more badass.

Let me know when that happens. I’m still in a state of ‘YOU FUCKING DICKHEAD WRITERS.’

My overall reaction was WHAT. NO.

But I adore Barry. .

Yep. There were parts of the episode I loved (Barry, the Oliver/Felicity argument) but other stuff that I just wanted to slap the writers for (the choosing between the women, Shado's death).
