It’s Galentine’s Day, the best holiday of all!

I realize that technically, there is only two hours left of Galetine's day, but still!

Shout-out to all my fierce lady friends! (If I have any dudes on my flist, shout-out to you too!)

Please take this as an invitation to come talk to me about ladies.

(Let’s be real, you are welcome to come talk to me about ladies 365 days of the year.)

Oh, cause I was worried for a second ;)

Tell me - did you ever watch Alias? If not - do! At least the first two seasons. If yes - tell me all your Sydney Bristow thoughts!

Well, I knew a lot of people would be seeing this post on Friday, and I wanted to encourage them to come and comment.

I did! I watched the whole thing, although the first two season where head and shoulders above the rest. I actually have a lot of love fore Sydney Bristow, because she was my seminal spy girl, which become one of my bulletproof tropes; ESPECIALLY when combined with her fraught relationship with Jack, and Jack's deliciously fucked up and yet weirdly awesome relationship with Irina. One of my favorite moments between them is when Sydney comes back from the dead and Jack's in prison and had assumed that Michael was working with her and when he found out Michael was married, Jack went, without missing a beat and with SUCH sincerely, "he was never good enough for you." Especially in the context of how frankly awfully Jack had treated Sydney in the past.

I loved, loved, loved, the first two seasons of Alias, but somehow Season 3 never did it for me. Probably because Will was gone, Vaughn gave up and got married to some random spy (who has returned on tv lately - possibly on Nikita actually! As Michael's honeytrap in Season 2, Cassandra? Too early to check) and Gina Torres wasn't around anymore. BUT JACK. JACK BRISTOW. God, I love him and his dysfunctional relationships with Irina and Sydney so much. And that "he was never good enough for you" line with ZERO hesitation? Victor Garber is a national treasure.

I know she was the star of a BBC spy series that is on my to-watch list; Hunted, I think it's called. And yeah. What was really frustrating about that storyline was it was SO clear that Michael didn't love his wife the way he loved Sydney, but he was denying the truth of that so damn hard. I just felt like he was being kinda cowardly about the whole thing.

RIGHT? IT'S ALL SO AMAZING.

Preach.
