Five [livejournal.com profile] 100_roadtrips drabbles:
#22: Say it with flowers!

Zukaru, Suika, and now this bitch. He hated them, really, goddamned, loathed illusionists, with their hills of skulls and their perfect lives he didn’t live and now...

Huge marble room, the floor strewn with poppies and roses and those little red daises that seemed to follow him around, all of it red, red, red.

A hand stroking his cheek, caressing his scars and then pain stabbed through his back.

I was looking at her when she tried to kill me, Gojyo wanted to say but his mouth was full of blood.

It was the only detail that she’d gotten wrong.
#48: (Goddamned) Subtext
(Dokugakuji/Yaone)

Kougaiji starts giving Yaone significant glances over the tactics table and Dokugakuji’s right eye twitches.

Kougaiji starts making sure his fingers brush Yaone’s when she hands him the dishes she’s made for supper, and Dokugakuji loses his appetite.

Sure, it’s not a surprise - Kou did mention that he was interested in her, but didn’t the demon prince know that when his swordsmen had said, “Good luck. She’s really incredible, isn’t she?” what he’d actually meant was “I’ve wanted her since we met?”

The only upside to this whole clusterfuck was that their beloved apothecary seemed totally oblivious to them both.
#42: Pain (Goku/Pippi)

Pippi limped down to the breakfast table, her face pinched and hair not in its usual tight braids. She didn’t even act annoyed that there weren’t any lemon muffins left.

“You’re going to work today?” Goku asked, surprised.

“Of course,” Pippi said with an almost Sanzo-like level of curtness, arm wrapped around her stomach “Why?”

“Well, it’s just you smell all bloody and hurting and-”

Goku doesn’t know why she hits him with the water pitcher, but Hakkai decides to make her some kind of special tea.

He also hadn’t known her face could go as red as Gojyo’s hair.
#68: Shumi (Nii)

The best way to taste the end, to sip the death of something as large and ponderous as the universe was to create it in others.

He cultivated them, fostered entropy in their souls like hothouse flowers, until they were empty, uncomplicated, vaguely amusing dolls. When Nii dressed as a priest, he bore death on his shoulders, happily controlled entropy like a master technician working on the finest machine ever built.

Of course, people had to exist for that. When he was alone... well, it’s wasn’t like he could have any fun at all playing with himself, now could he?
For [profile] renegadekitsune, who's having a sucky, test-filled week, and has been pleading for some Gojyo/Yaone...

#35: In My Pocket (Gojyo/Yaone)

“Do you happen to have a lighter?” Yaone asked, calmly, you’d never guess that they had been beaten and shoved in a pitch-black oubliette.

His face was bloody, his body bruised, he was chained to a wall, and the world suddenly because a beautiful, beautiful place.

“It’s in the front pocket of my jeans.”

Silence.

Yaone leaned close. He could feel the heat of her body, smell gunpowder-vanillia-girlsweat. She placed her hand pointedly on his knee, squeezed hard enough that her nails pricked at his skin.

“If it’s not there,” she breathed. “I will be very unhappy.”

She really needed to learn how to threaten guys.

Wheeee, drabbles!

Poor, poor Goku...I do hope Hakkai had a little Talk with him after Pippi finished her tea and left, so as to help him avoid future cases of inadvertent foot-in-mouth disease.

And that last one...

His face was bloody, his body bruised, he was chained to a wall, and the world suddenly because a beautiful, beautiful place.

So very, very Gojyo. That made me laugh right out loud in delight. :)

Yeah, Hakkai probably will sit him down and have a chat about what we do and do not say to the women in our life.

So very, very Gojyo. That made me laugh right out loud in delight. :)

Isn't it? I mean, Yaone makes everything better, especially if she's threatening him badly and is going to be search around in his tight, tight pants. *snerk*

The Goku/Pippi was CUUUUTE! I love it.
Thursday, May 1st, 2008 03:16 pm (UTC)
Aren't they just adorable?!?!
Thursday, May 1st, 2008 08:08 am (UTC)
I laughed out loud at both the Doku/Yaone and Goku/Pippi ones. Poor, poor Goku. XD
Thursday, May 1st, 2008 03:15 pm (UTC)
Yeah, that was time to keep your mouth shut. However, I'm sure Goku is used to getting smacked around, and he seems to really like it. (ooh, kinky).
Thursday, May 1st, 2008 08:24 pm (UTC)
Poor Goku probably wouldn't have survived around the people he knows if he didn't like it just a teensy, tiny bit, yeah. XD
Thursday, May 1st, 2008 08:35 pm (UTC)
*nods*

And it's been a while, but wasn't there some line where Gojyo comments on Pippi and Goku defends her? I remember going, 'he sure does like the bitchy ones!'
Thursday, May 1st, 2008 10:03 pm (UTC)
I think it was Gojyo saying (paraphrased), "Man, she's not cute at all," and Goku, all confuzzled, going "Really? I think she's pretty." And he's all like, "I don't mean how she looks..." or something. It was damn cute.
Thursday, May 1st, 2008 11:06 pm (UTC)
Yeah, it was something like that.
Thursday, May 1st, 2008 08:44 am (UTC)
All fun, but the Gojyo/Yaone's my favourite. :)
Thursday, May 1st, 2008 03:13 pm (UTC)
Thanks! That one was a kick to write - Gojyo just can't resist flirting.
Thursday, May 1st, 2008 12:10 pm (UTC)
Hehe! Goku and Pippi are too funny (ahhhh peacemaker Hakkai, what would they do without you?), and the last one, with Gojyo and Yaone made me laugh out loud. :D
Thursday, May 1st, 2008 04:23 pm (UTC)
*nods*

I had that seen in my head forever before I wrote it. And I don't know if it's peace making so much as 'taking care of the women in his life.' Hakkai.

These are all great!

I. Love. You.

*smooch*
Thursday, May 1st, 2008 10:41 pm (UTC)
Memoried! You nailed some of the thought I have about Ukoku's raison d'etre.
Thursday, May 1st, 2008 11:05 pm (UTC)
Thanks! It's clear to me that part of Nii craves failure - he needs other people more than almost anyone else on this show.
Thursday, May 1st, 2008 11:20 pm (UTC)
Yes. He admitted to Koumyou that he was waiting for someone to "eat him". He's the personification of entropy - he wants to bring about perfect chaos by destroying the multiiverse (Perfect chaos is nothing/the void because the ultimate rule of entropy is to make everything exactly the same) - yet he's hoping someone will be strong enough to destroy him first. It's the challenge of satisfying his curiosity not the end result of his grand experiment he's after and the thing he is most curious about is his own death. He wants to go out with a bang and take everything in creation down with him. It makes perfect sense that he is both the keeper of the Muten Sutra and a master physicist.

Thursday, May 1st, 2008 11:31 pm (UTC)
Something I else I figured out is he has a big flaw in his plan: If he dies, he won't be around to watch it. He could observe the destruction of the multiverse up until the point of his death, but he'll miss out on whatever comes afterwards.

This is very true.

Thank you! That Goku/Pippi was a joy to write.

And Pippi is her fan name. I think I read her real name once. It was short and had a y and a u in it, and I remember thinking Pippi fit her better. ^_^

These are great!

I like that you explored a range of emotional tones with these, and that you used pairings other than the most standard ones.

I loved the subtlety of the Doku/Yaone.

The Ni one definitely captured his apocalyptic creepiness.

I especially liked your description of Yaone's smell:

gunpowder-vanillia-girlsweat

Thank you so much for your detailed feedback!

I always thought that Doku would no be the one making the first move if he was interested in Yaone, and I really like thinking that she smells like a mix of really feminine things and then gunpowder. Cause after all, the girl is into her bombs.
Friday, May 9th, 2008 01:38 pm (UTC)
Whooo, that first one was scaaaary! with their hills of skulls and their perfect lives he didn’t live *huggles Gojyo*

I loved the subtext one, because the last line was just hilarious - poor Kou and Doku!!! XD

I also feel sorry for Goku - he needs the 'grown-up talk' fast, man!! Poor Pippi as well having to put up with stupid men! (Though Goku was being sweetly concerned at the time...)

Yet again, freakiness in shumi, but it's Nii, so I suppose that's to be expected!!! NIce scientific vs. Religious bent, too!

The last one was made of win!!! Gojyo's day just got a whole lot better! ;D
Saturday, May 10th, 2008 12:27 am (UTC)
Thank you! You're the first person to comment on the Gojyo one!

*snerk* yeah, I really love the idea of Yaone torturing both of those boys with her oblivousness.

Goku does need a 'these are things you do and don't say to girls'. Oh, Pippi was just reacting badly because she was in pain. Goku actually was being rather sweet.

And yes, Gojyo's day did get better! Because Yaone improves any day.
Saturday, May 17th, 2008 07:12 am (UTC)
Yay! A fic with Pippi in it! We always need more of those!

I guess I'm not the only one who thinks that Goku would be able to smell a girl's period, as gross as that sounds. Of course, at first I thought she was sore because someone had gotten busy with her the night before but then I understood that it was just her period.

But why wasn't she upset that there were no lemon muffins? Wouldn't she want lemon muffins more if her day wasn't going so well?

Great job!

Sunday, May 18th, 2008 02:33 am (UTC)
I know! More people need to write about her!

And I assume that any character with extra senses, especially an increased ability to smell, would know when it was 'that time of the month.'

I think that lack of reaction to having no muffins was because she wasn't feeling well. You know how it is when you're so tired or miserable that you just don't care, or it's not worth it to argue about it? That's were Pippi's at.
Sunday, July 6th, 2008 09:36 pm (UTC)
Aagh, the Goku/Pippi one-- you've pointed out something I hadn't even thought about, with the youkai "sense of smell." Hakkai making the special tea. Very nice.

And the Gojyo/Yaone? Lots of fun-- Gojyo is so saucy. It's portrayed well in such few words.
Thursday, July 10th, 2008 05:44 am (UTC)
Thank you! I am inordinately found of that drabble, and I love when I (or other writers) can play with people smelling girls' periods without it being icky. (Hard line to not cross).

And 'saucy' is a fantastic descriptor for Gojyo. I'm glad it came across.

Monday, May 24th, 2010 05:20 am (UTC)
I'm pretty sure that this is the only fic I wrote for them, and there aren't any current plans for more. Thanks for reading!
