So, on atla_unspoiled, there was a poster talking about how, typically, Zutara shippers ship Suki/Sokka, and Kataang shippers ship Toph/Sokka. (Which I think is true, based on my totally unscientific experiences). She then suggested that this was because of the shippers looking for 'viability.' (Which doesn't make sense to me.) I think it's more likely the that similarity in character interactions and relationship dynamics is what makes it more likely for a Zutara shipper to like Suki/Sokka, and for a Kataanger to like Toph/Sokka.

(And of course, there all the various permutations of who ships what as a primary ship, and I KNOW that there are people who like Suki/Sokka and Kataang, and Zutara shippers who like Toph/Sokka, to name just two.)

Yeah -- same + same = same. There's no point. The people who believe and think and do the exact same things you do, they're great friends. The people who actually bring something different and complementary and necessary to your life, those are the ones you spend the rest of your life with.

Someone please tell Kataang this.

And I can I just say, the whole 'aang's love for his entire race is reborn is Katara' thing? I don't find the romantic at. all. To me, that's just him replacing what he lost with the first pretty girl he saw, and totally does Katara a disservice. She deserves someone how loves her for her, not because he has no one else.

And it also reinforces the Kataang incest vibe for me... Romantic pairings/marriages are supposed to be about LEAVING your family unit to form a new one with someone from outside that circle.

I want Katara to have someone who loves her and wants to be with her, not someone who needs her because there's really no one else.
