Her Majesty's Dog 9 was a vast improvement over 8 - partially because they were focusing on what they did well, and partially because Ateko was in it and she makes everything better.

--Ateko: first, why do they always refer to her by some weird variant of her name first, and then start using Ateko? It's totally annoying.

--Second, most of you know that I love Ateko and that she's my favorite character. I love her character design, with her cute braids, pig tails and clip and I adore her clear eyed down to earth take on things. Plus, she really has the ability to grow as a person, and I'm a sucker for character development.

--Also, Aoi was totally matching Ateko for unwillingness to put up with bullshit. I cracked up at his 'you mean, when you marry her' line, and his interactions with Ateko gave me plenty of fodder for my wall!ship.

--I love how HMD spent a whole chapter on Amane and Ateko's friendship. I'm a totally whore for girl!friends, especially when there is no competition involved.

--The expression on Hyou's face when he picked Amane up made me squeal.

--I loved the little demon. HMD is best when it's using the whole 'demon/human interaction as a metaphor for emotional needs. Also, the mangaka does a great job at drawing kids. The totally squeed when Hyou gave that kid the hint that his demon was showing.

--The drawing is pretty. With Naruto, I'd forgotten what reading good art was like.

--Seeing Amane doing her job competently was awesome, as was the cigarette bindings.

--I loved the ending, with the hair ribbon. Amane can't ask for what she wants because Hyou would never refuse her. I have a feeling we're leading up to him breaking his binding or Amane releasing him. I can't remember, is there any way for him to stay in the world if he doesn't have a master? I mean, there must be, but what is the technique for doing it?
