To which I answer....

Katara. Because so often she is hated and gets venom for doing either a.) the right thing b.) the human thing or c.) both a and b. After SR, she is finally beat out Zuko as my favorite character, simply because I got so utterly enraged and disgusted by the people who hate her.

and also...

Sakura. I really, really understand why people don't like her, I do, but Sakura was so clearly annoying because of Kishimoto's failings as a writer, and not because of who she is. (Does that make sense?) Also, she has also grown as a character. If who she was now was who she was at the start of the series (less to no crush on Sasuke but emotional connection to him, super strength, classic tsundre behavior)... can you imagine the awesome?
