I am bored and should be doing school work but am truly in want of a distraction.

Talk to me, please.

Real life, fandom, questions you've always wanted to ask - it's all fair game.

I don't understand not loving Sasuke. Well, no, that's a lie; I totally understand it. But Sasuke was the only reason I allowed myself to get sucked into the series (because I had the whole pride thing going where "I REFUSE TO WATCH THIS ANIME....JUST BECAUSE EVERYBODY ELSE IS DOING IT.") by my friend. She had to promise me there would be eye candy, and I was all, "OHHHHH-kaaaaaaay..." And then I fell in love with his hotness and his complete srsface. And then I completely fell in love with him after the first time we saw Itachi (yes, there was a period of time where I hated Itachi's guts...I know, I can't believe myself either...) And then I was absolutely furious with him for beign an ass and leaving...then I discovered the fun of psychoanalyzing him just to find out how messed up he really is...then...I've just never been able to make myself unlove him. I put it best during a conversation with said friend: "At the point this obsession has developed to, Sasuke could eat a live human baby, and I would still love him." (Hence my constant references to Sasuke's consumption of infants.)

Really? I know the Sasuke/Itachi fight was hard to follow, and I'm excited for the animation of that, and I think they did do really well with the Sannin fight, but I honestly prefer the manga side of the Valley of the End fight. The anime dragged it out too long, I feel, added some things that didn't (IMO) really work (though they did add one or two things that I really liked), and didn't animate it to the best of their ability. (They did, however, animate Neji's fight to the best of their ability. I am still moved to tears when I watch it.) So I'm worried the same thing might happen, since Shippuuden anime is dragging their episodes out to almost where it's a chapter per episode. Ew.

Good, that's the way I say it. Win. (My family has an ongoing feud about the proper pronunciation of that word.)

Okay, I can sort of see where you're coming from.

Yeah, I heard that that was the rate that they were going and I was like 'seriously?' I'm tempted to ask which episodes I should watch for Kunari/Asuma and seeing Asuma bite it, but that's about it. And if they use flashbacks like they usually do, you pretty much want to watch every other episode.

I'm getting ticked because you can totally tell that the animators are just trying to milk the cash cow. I'm like, "for god's sake, stop panning around and do something!" It almost makes me miss split-screens--they sped the action up.

Yeah, nothing can kill the enjoyment like knowing TPTB are fucking with you.

The Valley of the End fight is one of the few parts of the anime that is worth watching, in my opinion. They applied Norio Matsumoto's animation genius to it and it was just gorgeous.

The end of it was stellar and spectacular, I will definitely give it that. Kyuubi!Naruto, CS2!Sasuke, the water, the light, the movement, the black Chidori, everything was awesome at the end. I was more referring to the vast middle of the fight, the scenes in the anime fight that didn't appear in the manga at all (the forest stuff, for example). I just didn't feel like they looked as good as the shots based directly on the manga. Maybe it's just me.

Norio Matsumoto? Is he the "good" Naruto animator? Do you know if he did Neji's fight with Kidoumaru? Because, IMO, that was one of the highlights of the entire anime in terms of animation.

I actually didn't watch all the way through to the end, I stopped at the point where Sasuke goes CS2. I actually saw this long before I read Naruto and had any real interest, and was pretty much blown away by it. When I read up to that point in the manga I was pretty disappointed because it didn't seem halfway as cool as the anime rendition.

Norio Matsumoto is a very good animator, and he comes on for the Naruto anime from time to time. I don't have a full list of what he's worked on, but I do know he did that fight, and I'm pretty sure he did the forest fight between Sasuke and Orochimaru, and the fight between Orochimaru and the Fourth Hokage. He also did the sixth One Piece movie, some work on Flame of Recca, Hunter X Hunter, and Evangelion, and I'm pretty sure he worked on the Digimon movie among others.

Here, just watch this video of his work (warning: boobies near the beginning). It's got fucking awesome background music as an extra bonus.
