DVD Commentary on "Love Me Dead"
Here is my DVD commentary on "Love Me Dead" for
devimelete . You can read the original version here
Love Me Dead, Or, The Evening Copy Nin Kakashi Met A Real Life Vampire
As you can see from the title, the requester wanted a nice, funny story. She didn't get it.
He turned away. "Immortality doesn't interest me," he told her dismissively. Even her pitch, full of seductive, sensual phrases, coupled with her wanton body language, couldn't make living to see everyone he ever knew die sound enticing.
For Kakashi, immortality would be about the worst fate he could suffer, and I think he knows it. I imagine Kakashi as a vampire would be him serving Konoha and serving Konoha and serving Konoha and serving Konoha, and then suddenly, when everyone he knew are nothing but myths, it would suddenly become apparent that he's insane.
I think Kakashi knows this.
He stared out over the dance floor, keeping his sole original eye focused on the dancing bodies, and not any of the couples tucked into the shadows around the edge of the room, moving to a more primal, private beat than anything that was being pounded out of the speakers.
Kakashi trying not to know..... also, it's his original eye, so I image he's hoping he can forget this.
The vampire rose on tip toes, wrapped her arms around him from behind, and whispered in his ear, "You could take her with you."
He didn't respond.
"Think about it," she breathed, "You could have her, spend an eternity taking her in every manner you wish."
...And vampire is smart enough to know what would tempt him... I feel like this is a kinda lame commentary, in that I think just about everything is pretty explicit within the text.
Against his will, Kakashi couldn't help but gaze at that corner, that particular couple: the Uchiha's hands fisted in her bright hair, restraining her as he daintily touched his lips to hers. Sakura was nothing so controlled: she kissed him delicately back, but her fingers dug into the sides of his rear, pulling him closer, undulating her hips against his.
I see Sasuke as a rather cold fish, sexually, and think that he could never satisfy Sakura emotionally or keep her warm between the sheets. That said, I think if Sakura got in a relationship with him, she would never just take what she wants, and would try to be the girl (she thinks he) wants. Their body language says it all, right here.
If Sakura had been in his arms and half so responsive, Kakashi would not still be in an obnoxiously loud bar.
His heartbeat quickened at the thought; Sakura moving against him, lust and love and youth in every cell of her body, every scrap of her self. He wondered if she could warm his soul the way she must Sasuke's.
And this is the difference between Sasuke and Kakashi: in Sakura, Kakashi would understand just how lucky he is, and what he's gained, and reciprocate, while Sasuke wouldn't.
"I'm not interested," Kakashi repeated, the words tasting like graveyard ashes in his mouth.
Nice gothic imagery to end on. Kakashi is interested, and way too moral to ever say yes.

I've always thought the title of this rather serious drabble seems to be rather silly until I read this. Now it makes perfect sense. :D
I think if Sakura got in a relationship with him, she would never just take what she wants, and would try to be the girl (she thinks he) wants.
That pretty much sums up my feelings for the Sasuke/Sakura pairing. Later on in Part I, when she really started to "love" (and I say this word very, very loosely) Sasuke, and Sasuke maybe-kinda-sorta cared about her, I did see some potential for the pairing. If Sasuke haven't run off to Orochimaru, I suspect he would've fallen for her, but in a slowly, begrudgingly kind of way.
But way the manga is pointing towards, I just can't see it happening. It appears that the girl has moved on toward better things; and not to mention that much of her love and dedication is to Konoha and her friends while Sasuke is deep in the works of destroying Konoha. I can only imagine the scenario when she meets Sasuke for the second time in the manga and it is revealed to her what Sasuke been doing this entire time.
Sakura: Are you saying, Sasuke-kun, that you came back to Konoha, after all this time . . . just to destroy it?
Sasuke: Yes.
Sakura: ...
Sakura: *punches Sasuke à la Naruto* ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!?!
Sasuke: !?!?!
(This totally reminds me a piece of fanart I saw once on DeviantArt of Sakura giving Sasuke an uppercut with the words "I'M A MOTHERFUCKING NINJA!" It's the most beautiful thing I ever saw in the Naruto fandom. Gawd, if Kishimoto does that, then he is given repentance for all the buttfuckery he has made up in past months.)

Nooo, not lame! If there is one thing that is interesting about an author and his/her works, is them discussing their characters and themes and what not. Seriously, this DVD commentary meme is pretty awesome.

To be honest, I really dislike it when people say that Sakura didn't love Sasuke. I think she did, I think it's an important part of her character that she loved her with her whole heart, and really loved him. When she's trying to convince him not to leave, she talks about what his revenge is going to cost, and was willing to go with him knowing that it would be a bad move. Sakura really loved him, and then she grew up and her love matured into the same (familial) love that Naruto has.
I also think that Sasuke cared for her as much as he was capable of (which is not much, and which is Sasuke's own damn fault.)
Sakura now would never make the offer that Sakura then did, but I think it's important that once she would have left Konoha for Sasuke.

Everyone on my flist, including me, wants to see this happen. I will never forgive Yamoto for getting in Sakura's way when she went for Sasuke.

WORD. I love that fanart as well.
