gacked from [livejournal.com profile] carrielh , because she is absolutely right:

On the theory that we could all use a hearty dose of positive energy and general warm fuzziness while we wait, none too patiently, for better times; that *no* one I know is getting told often enough what a good job they are doing just getting through this crazy, lovely world. Take a second, and mention something you like about me (if such a thing exists) in the comments. Then repost this to your own journal, and have some goodness for yourself.

(And I don't think it's just because I'm more of an adult than I ever was before that I think these are depressing times, on both a macro and micro level.)

You don't as far as I can tell, let differences in opinion affect your opinion of a person.
Thursday, October 30th, 2008 06:45 am (UTC)
Thank you! And yeah, I try really hard with that one. Basically, as long as you don't disrespect my opinions and can explain why you hold yours... I'm cool.

Really, I think most of fandom's problems come from failing to realize there's a difference between disagreeing with your opinion and not respecting you. I mean, very honestly, who cares if you like m/m, m/f or f/f or canon or fanon? Shouldn't the main factor be that you like the same things?

(And really, how interesting would it be if everyone agreed?)

Yes. I totally agree that people seem to identify way too hard with their opinions. (Which, you know, change. Or at least mine do.)

(And really, how interesting would it be if everyone agreed?)

Totally boring, although I would enjoy the glut of fic for my OTPs.

You do fantastic cosplay, and your ability to juggle school and fun stuff amazes me.
Thursday, October 30th, 2008 07:15 am (UTC)
Thank you! And as I have to be awake in six hours and still haven't gone to bed... I don't know how well I'm juggling at the mo. ^_^

You're a very talented writer, have a great sense of humor, and often remind me why it is so damn awesome to be female. (:

Thank you! And it is damn awesome to be female!

I'm jealous of the way you write, like whoa. :) You're so talented!

Thank you!

You're very talented, but more than that, you are intelligent, analytical but not unemotional, and very independent. *hug*
Thursday, October 30th, 2008 02:37 pm (UTC)
Awwww. Thank you! And emotionally analytical is just screamingly accurate.

^^ That's exactly how you are. It's the best of both worlds.

I love that no matter what the issue at hand, I know your thoughts will always be intelligent, provoking, and well-organized. You're a wonderful person to have at one's back.
Thursday, October 30th, 2008 02:36 pm (UTC)
I'm glad to be there.
Thursday, October 30th, 2008 03:19 pm (UTC)
I really admire your intelligence. I always like a smart girl who knows she's smart and isn't afraid to be smart.
Thursday, October 30th, 2008 03:31 pm (UTC)
Thank you.

I have never understood playing dumb, and have too much pride to do so. (Also, call me romantic, but I don't think guys actually like dumb girls, and I wouldn't want one who does.)

Great icon, by the way. I respond with an icon of another smart, know-it-all.
Thursday, October 30th, 2008 04:03 pm (UTC)
I never have, either. The way I figure, if a guy doesn't respect my intelligence or get my humor, it's a bit of a doomed relationship from the outset, because they're part of who I am.

Thank you! I, unfortunately, don't know the people in yours :\

WORD.

This is Veronica Mars, so is a smart, cynical, snarky young women who spends season 1 solving smaller mysteries and curruption in her town while she searches for her best friend's killer.

She pwns.

Thank you! I am so pleased the you actually GET my sense of humor, and aren't like, 'wow, this girl is just so arrogant.' It's refreshing to admit what I like about myself, or what I think is clever without feeling like I should be more modest.

Plus you've only ever been awesome to me, for which I am insanely grateful. (Random phone calls at all hours have been a total lifesaver. I thank you.)

Anytime, darling, anytime.

Yeah, it's like, self-esteem is not a bad thing, despite the love-hate, damned if you do, damned if you don't set up we have in our culture.

You're never afraid to say what you think, and I know that's something that a lot of people struggle with. :)
Monday, November 3rd, 2008 05:36 am (UTC)
Thank you! I'm really flattered by how many people seem to like/respect my opinions, and that I am so forthright is part of how they identify me as me.
