Maka Is My TV Girlfriend

First, and most importantly: the gender dynamics on this show make me fangasm.

We have as a main character, a female technition with her male weapon. And then we have a male technition with a female weapon, a male with a male, and I think we get two chicks together later. Also, Maka? Totally pwns. And I adore how when Soul goes off to fight with Black Star against Death The Kid she is totally unworried, in start contrast to Tsubaki.

Now, let's talk about Maka's family, okay? So, her mom was an awesome weapons tech. Who was dating a weapon. That wasn't hers, at the time. And didn't get his power-up until she was the one wielding him.

Have a mentioned the agency implicit in that? And how much I love it?

So, you've got Dr Stein (who, incidentally, refers to his weapon as "sempai") whose weapon was Maka's dad who was seeing/married to Maka's mom, who notices the stitches, Maka's dad ditches Stein and mixes work and pleasure with Maka's mom, and how, somewhere in this time line, my tv girlfriend gets born.

I just love that chain of events so very much.

In the third episode, Mifune was such a badass that I totally didn't believe he could lose to Black Star.
Also, I'm totally shipping Mifune/Tsubaki, because he respects her and I'm a sucker for that, plus she deserves better than Black Star.

Death the Kid is fucking hysterical. He makes me lol every single time he is onscreen. And the skateboard! That was just cute. Although he holds his pistols in a fucking dumb way. I actually paused the screen and twisted my hands around until I figured out how exactly he was holding them, and once I did, I was irritated. It's like he's asking for his thumbs to get broken and I have my doubts about a pinkies ability to pull a trigger. I've heard those suckers have some resistance to them.

Also, his weapons are badass. I love the seen with Patty and Liz leapfrogging over each other and shooting the hell out of mummies.

But later, when they're bound with bandages and it's like, 'hentai time!' I felt so bad about finding that scene hot, because Patty was in it. And Patty is like, all innocent and adorable.

Yeah, Kim and Jackie. They become important to the plot around the same time as another Male/Male pair does (Ox and Harvar).

Haha, uh, in the manga it's about ten times worse. Y-yeah.

Oh, geeze. That is 10 times worse. And also better, because Liz is freaking hot.

The manga has a much higher fanservice grade than the anime, although that petered off after a while. That's about the worst of it right there...excepting that one shower scene, but since that was immediately followed up by a similar scene in the men's shower...well, it balances out.

*chuckles* I've watched up to 15 and for some reason, I love that Soul is kinda Maka's unofficial househusband. They live together, for whatever reason (I hope we eventually find out), and onscreen he seems to take care of the lion's share of the everyday housekeeping, without raising a fuss about it--it's just natural because Maka is the harder worker, so the chores fall to him and despite being very gruff and very male he doesn't mind wearing an apron and makes it look good, and every so often he'll bring her a cup of tea or something and it's just a natural little gesture. They mostly seem so comfortable together on a fundamental level. Something about that arrangement just makes me very, very happy.

Also, oh, Kid. He's like a smaller, OCD Roy Mustang and when I'm not wanting to deliver a Maka-smack to his head, I enjoy him greatly. And his magnificent ladies, too, for being quite capable on their own and still deciding to stick with this guy out of respect, despite his numerous eccentricities, because he really seems to respect them, too. ♥

Yeah, I love when he brings her snacks. I don't know if I think he's the househusband - he doesn't seem to be the type to clean to her standards, and I think there's a line about Maka hitting him if he makes things messy, but I do think that they clearly take turns or trade of on keeping up with the day to day living.

Oh, that is just the PERFECT way to describe him. I love how he'll get so very badass and then his OOC will kick in and I'm like, 'NOOO where did all the bad ass go?'
