As someone who was quite delighted that Katara found Aang, initiated the hug, leaned in first for the kiss, this comment really upsets me. I've always seen them as equals throughout the show, one or the other each having their own talents, working well together, listening to one another. Neither felt flat to me, neither felt like a prize for the other. They always seemed to me to care about the other as a person.
That was a callous dismissal of their friendship and romance, and I'm not sure what to make of it.
