So (technically yesterday) I went to go see Inkheart with [livejournal.com profile] mzminola and her brother.

Well worth seeing on a big screen, if only for the scenery.

Despite a little too much plot-mandated stupidity (I feel at some points like characters were being a bit dumb to facilitate what needed to happen), I LOVED this movie.

I adored Dustfinger and thought how they did his firebending was massively cool. His first meeting with Meggie was great and I'm sorry that they didn't get to interact more. (Deviant little fandom-girl wouldn't have minded fic with them.)

I liked how the magic of the movie worked and all the actors where really good. Brendan Frasier has a niceness that just shines on the screen; it was so clear that he adored his daughter very much. I wanted to wave, 'please adopt me!'

Also, I really liked the costuming. Both Meggie and her father dressed like they lived on the road, and they didn't ever glam Meggie up. It was nice.

I ended the movie really wanting to read the book, which I kinda think a good adaption does.
