So I really enjoyed the latest adaptation of Emma, even though I felt like it lagged in the middle - I was very impatient to get to the Emma/Knightly bits.
I really liked the changes they made/added to this version and showing that Knightley was really into Emma (before she realized she felt the same) and had some doubt of her returning his feelings was good (loved the dancing/running/etc) scenes.
Also while I was VERY dubious of the casting for Knightly, I liked how Emma and Knightley seemed much closer to the same age and more like peers, which honestly makes the romance play better imho.
But I really need a primer on the context of Frank Churchill. It seems really weird that he was adopted by his aunt while his father still lived? Did this go down because his aunt had substantially more money than his father? And then he clearly doesn't care about his father, which is why Knightley dislikes him?

Also the romantic lead so SO FUCKING GONE on Willadean from the word 'go' it's amazing.

Day 13 - Star Crossed OTP
Okay, that phrase “star-crossed” has a really bad rep, in my mind. It brings up images of drawn-out, mandated romances where the writers keep insisting that two people are totally in love and meant for each other while the audience is like… ummm, no.
So I had to struggle past that, and then try to figure out what ‘star-crossed’ even meant.
And then, this morning, I was intending to talk aboutAllison and Scott. He’s a werewolf, she’s the daughter of a family of hunters, it’s perfect. Only tonight's episode happened, and everything is sadness.

I have lost the original comment, but someone was feeling demoralized about the lady of queer ladies on her screen, so I wanted mention that YOU NEVER HAVE TO ACCEPT LACK OF QUEER LADIES (OR DUDES) ON YOUR SCREEN, and also through out some queer lady recs:
Bomb Girls (two of the four main characters are lesbians)
Orphan Black (a reoccurring character is a lesbian, and she actually gets a really interesting romance)
This post with a fuckton of movies with lesbians.
The Arrow episode Heir of the Demon (with a couple quibbles).
Chicago Fire has a main character who is a lesbian.
I’d check out the Adventure Time episodes with Marceline The Vampire Queen and Princess Bubblegum (uncanon, but only because the network wouldn’t let the show go there).
There is also 2 Broke Girls, which skews more towards the 'queer-bait' end of the spectrum, but has some really slashy moments between the leads.

Seriously, if that movie wasn't being made by marvel, there would be no fucking way I'd want to see it.
The trailer did nothing for me, I think Zoe Saladana looks fugly in half the scenes I've seen her in so far, as does Nebula, if I never saw Chris Pratt's face again, that would be amazing.
And this has nothing to do with the fact that this movie is getting made before Black Widow, or Captain Marvel and Agent Jessica Drew, or a hundred other things I'd rather seen.
It's that there is no fucking way I'm going to get pumped about wacky space-hijinks of a fucking white dude with a doofus face in space.
Yep, I realize I'm the ONLY PERSON ON MY FLIST AND DASHBOARD WHO ISN'T CREAMING HER PANTIES OVER THIS MOVIE.

Beauty & The Beast
I wish I could say something else, but Beauty and the Beast is the fairy tale that I read multiple versions of and it was (and honestly, may still be) my favorite Disney movie.
I’m not thrilled about this choice because Once Upon A Time really kind of ruined my feelings about that fairy tale. I’ve never denied that there are some really negative elements to the Beauty and the Beast story, but Once’s interpretation made it hard for me to see anything else.
That said, this post made me realize I really need to read the original (and fuck yes, for a citable, sole female author) and I just read Cruel Beauty (and I need to reread Robin McKinely's Beauty), so hopefully that will help remove the dirty, guilty sting I presently feel at liking B&B.
Moving on, this isn’t a specific legend, but I freaking love stories of friendly ghosts, e.g. Casper, Phantom Dennis, that one comic about the dude who falls for the ghost haunting his house.
I also love urban legends of all sorts – ‘aren’t you glad you didn’t turn on the light’ (still pissed at Supernatural for screwing their adaptation of this up, among many other reasons) and the vanishing hitchhiker are two of my favs. I also feel like my enjoyment of serial killer fiction and road trip fic are related to this.
ETA: I put on the B&B soundtrack while I was getting this ready to post and ended up singing along and waving my arms dramatically between typing. Yep, definitely my fav disney movie.
