Saiyuubito Q&A (p72) translated. In which Yaone is awesome and feeds my OTP and Kougaiji is a dumbass. Seriously, I feel SO SORRY that both Yaone and Dokugakuji wound up with him.

Dead-one fanart with spoilers for Naruto 434:

Naruto 434: team Gai's entry2

I can't decide if I love Konan selling tickets to the circus or the slugs turning the pages of Kakashi's book and getting him tea more.

More with the funny:

If Anko Taught Sex Ed...

Also, I find it terribly sad that there is so little Iruka/Anko art that I find (bad) Kakashi/Sakura pics when I search for it.

And one more...

Sneaky Anko by ~kiasca on deviantART

It's the expressions on their faces that make this so very perfect...

Okay, now for some Bleach commentary (I originally mistyped that Blech). Up to 308:

Nell's face here is wintastic.

Also, I love Cirucci so very much. With her stockings and her whip-yoyo thingy....

Is it just me or do titles like 'Don't breath in the bush' and 'Infinite Slick' come across as really, really pervy?

And the snark in this fight is freaking epic. God, I swear the mangaka gains 50 IQ points whenever Ishida is onscreen.

And here's Ishida being hot and badass.... Honestly, because I'm a crazy shipper, my first thought was 'does he make a great white knight to Orihime's princess?

I have no words for how pervy this scene is....

I really like how Uliquorra rolls one eye back to watch her after Orhime slaps him.

Also, I've reached the endless, endless, endless fights.

Send help.

Haha oh god the parody is win. And presumably Konan is making the tickets from bits of herself, so... EXTRA LULZ.

(I originally mistyped that Blech)

A Freudian slip perhaps? A rather perceptive one? XD

Also, I've reached the endless, endless, endless fights.

I like how I read that sentence and realised that you could have been talking about ANY section of this series, and one wouldn't be able to tell which you were referring to. *facepalm*

See icon. Best part of the Circe Thunderwitch battle. Actually, the entire battle is the only part of the Hueco Mundo arc that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Yeah, poor Konan. The things she does for Pain.

Probably both a perceptive and a Fruedian slip.

I like how I read that sentence and realised that you could have been talking about ANY section of this series, and one wouldn't be able to tell which you were referring to. *facepalm*

While not untrue, there is a special never-going-to-end feeling to the Hecto Mundo fights. And I don't know if you're read this far yet, but Orihime's character is SO FRUSTRATING right now - each chapter she's in I could think of six or seven offensive or defensive moves she could be doing, but no, she just STANDS THERE.

I know, I was SO HAPPY to finally have context for that icon.

Oh, Ishida, how are you so awesome?

...and even the Thunderwitch/Ishida fight starts dragging on too long, honestly.

I'm not there yet. Right now Orihime's being kind of awesome and plotting to sabotage the Hyoguokyu whatever-it-is-unspellable-nonsense, but I've heard that she spends a bunch of fights as basically a spectator, which *headdesk*

It's so bad. There are so many times when I'm like 'use your shields! no one is paying any attention to you at all, sneak off and blow up the glowy-rock!' and she doesn't. *sigh*

hee: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xXrsGLc0GI

... I need to watch that movie again.

I am also getting this weird urge to write this as a Naruto fic, but to have Kakashi/Sakura lurking in the background while Sakura tries to sabotage Naruto's wedding.

Do Ishida and Orihime still interract after their Shinigami disguise scenes? 'Cause I liked them together...

I heart Nel.

I also have a small thing for Ulquiorra/Orihime the same way I have a small thing for Kabuto/Hinata. >.>

Isn't it delightful? I love using the weapons as props.

Dude, that fanart wins forever. Extra lulz at Konohamaru using his sensei as a sofa and Kakashi still managing to read Icha Icha while he's in slug limbo.

I love the Circe and Ishida fight. I generally love all of Ishida's fights (even the cracktastic WHUT one that I'm sure you'll becoming across soon), and I agree with the Kubo gaining 50 IQ points whenever he's on panel.

MASSIVE WORD on the Orihime frustration, and it only gets worse, sadly. These last few chapters have had me practically frothing at the mouth, and she's not even one of my favorites.

Doesn't it?

And what's really funny is that I started reading Bleach around when Naruto started to get really, really boring, so there's a nice meta in-joke for me in Kakashi ignoring the Pain/Naruto fight in order to read something else.

And I generally like all of Ishida's fights.

See, used to adore Orihime and like Rukia a lot, but both of their rescue arcs have really killed the love for me.

That video was HILARIOUS. Oh, that movie. I remember seeing in at such a young age that I didn't understand gay, so I was totally confused on why George and the main character couldn't get together in the end. They talked all the time! He came to the wedding so she could have someone to dance with!

That said, thoughts on a fic idea:

1.) I have a hard time buying into a Naruto who wouldn't marry Sakura in a hot second.

2.) It seems like a backsliding of the Sakura/Ino relationship - it seems like they've gotten over the love-rival game.

3.) How do you write the Kakashi/Sakura romance effectively if Sakura's so focused on Naruto? While I couldn't see this the first time I watched it, on reason the movie works is that she DOESN'T end up with anyone in the end. Will the Kakashi/Sakura just be subtexty?

4.) This is a pretty unflattering role for Sakura to be cast in.

...I hope this doesn't come across as too much raining on your parade.

There isn't a lot, but Orihime worrying about Ishida when he's not talking to his friends and Ishida's reaction to Orihime getting kidnapped are pretty priceless.
Thursday, February 12th, 2009 09:38 pm (UTC)
Nel is pretty badass.

And Ulquiorra/Orihime has the potential to be all sorts of epic fucked up awesome.

Nah, realistically I was having all those problems with it as well, when I was thinking about fic possibilities. And I'd probably never write it. But, for the sake of having some time-wasting brainfun, I'll answer your questions. =)

1.) That's true. I guess this would have to be a Naruto who's at least 10 years older and totally in love with someone else.

2.) I probably wouldn't even use Ino. She's not sweet enough. I'd probably use Hinata, even though I don't like that pairing, if only because it'd be fun to have Hinata break out of her shell to fight back against Sakura. She could totally lose her shit--which is something that will never happen in canon, as much as I'd like to see it.

3.) Very, very true. This is actually the most annoying thing, but I bet it could be subtexty all along. Maybe she could recruit/blackmail Kakashi to "help" her in her plans, thus allowing a contrast to her different relationships with Kakashi and Naruto. It'd probably still end up with her not dating anyone, but with heavy implications of the future.

4.) I'm pretty comfortable with writing my favorite characters so they don't always have to be the hero or always be right in the end. Generally I write them in heroic roles, but that alone isn't a significant problem for me.

In this story, I think that all depends on how it goes. I sympathized with Julia Robert's character in the movie even when, after a while, I wanted her to lose; it's not strictly unflattering. It would just have to do what the film did--balance the good with the bad, and make you still like her even while you laugh at her antics and hope for her to come to her senses.

But like I said, it's more of a wistful plot bunny than something I plan to write. I like the cracktastic appeal, though, and it would satisfy my two favorite ships at once.

At the very, very least, he is mightily intrigued.

I know! Ishida's brains is one of the reasons that I love him so. It's really, really nice to have SOMEONE being consistently clever.

"Screw them, the reason you came here doesn't exist anymore, you can do SOMETHING! But apparently I was expecting too much... Gah. I mean, now she doesn't have to do what Aizen says anymore, does she?

One would think! I mean, at this point I'd but like, 'grab Ichigo, break the jewel, and haul ass out of there!'

I love time wasting brain-fun!

2.) I would also love to see Hinata lose it at some point. That would be epically awesome.

3.) And at the very least, a sexy, sexy dance at the end.

4.) I'm pretty comfortable with writing my favorite characters so they don't always have to be the hero or always be right in the end. *nods* For me it depends on the character in question and the type of potentially unflattering attention that I'm writing them as. Some characters I'm more protective of than others, although I don't insist that they ever always be in the right. (Sometimes it's their screw ups that make me love them the most.)

haha I feel like the only one on the planet who liked Rukia's rescue arc XD I love her almost as much as I love Sakura, and I felt like her voluntary imprisonment was a good time for her to get rid of her emotional baggage, which she does...eventually :P

I kind of wish the series was about Ishida instead of Ichigo...I don't dislike Ichigo or anything, but Ishida has a far more interesting way of dealing with things.

I couldn't get over how she was treated in the end, and to have that be followed up by Orihime getting kidnapped right afterwards... left a sour taste in my mouth.

Oh, god, I would love Bleach SO MUCH if it were starring Ishida.
