Haruno Orin, dark hair with red highlights, dark brown eyes when her Sharingan isn't activated. She reads a lot, of everything. She's the elite little prodigy of the family, got her mother's slight build, and is fantastically skilled at lightning and fire based jutsus. Biologically, she's Sasuke's kid, but Sakura left him before she discovered she was pregnant. Sakura ended up leaving Konoha to reform Suna's medical system, and since Kakashi was in love with her since before she married, he manipulated the Hokage (or asked nicely, it depends on who's telling the story) into letting him be the Ambassator to Suna so he could be with her.
Sakura falls in love with Kakashi during her pregnancy although she doesn't want to admit it.
Kakashi's the only father she knows or wants to know, and they're very close.
Haruno Sukumo: Orin's little brother. He got his father's hight and his mother's hair and eyes, and is a brillant medic with Sakura's freakish strength. He and Orin are super close. When she was ten and he was almost nine, he lost his eyesight. A group of ninja tried to capture Orin for her bloodline limit.
When they attacked, Sai hide Orin under the bed and bound her with his ink jutsus to keep her out of their hands. The leader, a particularly vicious kunoichi tired to get Sukumo to tell them where his sister was (he knew) and then threw acid on his eyes when he wouldn't.
Orin still refuses to speak to Sai after this and despite not having his eyesight Sukumo is a badass ninja, although he DOES have a bit of an inferority complex, since he compares himself to his sister a lot.
They grew up in Suna, best friends with Shukaju, the kid who got the one-tails placed inside him as part of a coup to overthrow the Kazekage. (It didn't work.)
Neither one are thrilled when they move back to Konoha in their early teens, although Orin, who has to deal with her biological father, handles it much, much worse.

I second the idea that this would be a great fic, though of course I understand the aversion to writing something novel-length.

*nods* I really wanted to do some gender reversals, and everytime I create a medic OC, it's a guy, simply because that skill set is WAY to gendered in the Naruto-verse.
Kind of makes me wonder what Sasuke thinks of his biological kid being raised by Kakashi...
Well, with the added bonus that Sasuke cheated on Sakura with Ino, and the two kids he's had with her DIDN'T manifest the sharingan.... I imagine there is a lot of *stabystaby RAGE* going on in that boy's head.
Yeah, if I were going to do something novel-length, I'd do the summer of weddings Kakshi/Sakura fic, that I would start writing if only I could figure out the ROOT/ANBU plot aspect of it.

And the summer of weddings fic is an idea that I had, wherein Sakura gets Kakashi to esquire her around to all the weedings she has to go to this one summer when EVERYONE IN KONOHA gets married, after her boyfriends cheats on her and she kicks his ass out.
What's stopping me from writing it is the fact that:
a.) I want unequivical proof that Kakashi is alive so it's not immediately jossed
and
b.) there is a noir plot going on the give the story gravitias that involves ROOT and Sai and Danzo and I CANNOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME FIGURE IT OUT.
