Naruto 440

Okay, I loved the conversation with the Fourth. I adored that Naruto punched him (like, I chortled, and my mom called and asked what was funny from the other room) and called Minato on the fact that, guess what, Naruto's life kinda sucked because of that. I also am really pleased that Kishimoto made it clear that Minato left a weapon behind and that he choose Naruto for somewhat selfish reasons.

Also, I was really, really surprised that Kishimoto so explicitly declared the shinobi system a problem. I have NO idea how he's going to fix that problem, but he's committed to it now, and I'm curious to see where that goes.

What I disliked: that horrifically foreshortened shot of Naruto at the end. Way to look kinda cool, Naruto. Also, I hate that instead of being completely exhausted, which would only make sense since every other time the fox has come out he's ended up exhausted (I think? correct me if I'm wrong) and he's also just watched his home destroyed, Hinata get stabbed, and chatted with his dead dad. I dunno about you, but I'm want a breather and maybe a soda and definitely my best ride to ride shotgun when we go off to kill the big bad's bitch.

Bleach was boring, as per usual. So glad I read that first.

That's true.

It makes no sense. I mean, yeah, there was that one extra clone, but I don't think that's what gave Naruto another. frackin'. power-up.

I was really impressed by this chapter. Kishimoto is tying up some loose ends (finally!) and I feel rather dumb for not making the DUH connection that the Kyuubi was sealed within Naruto so Minato, who has the same or at least really similiar chakra, could use it. D'oh!

Bleach is getting progressively worse. I may drop it for a while, at least until this god awful arc is over. The only joy I got from this chapter was Ichigo!hollow yoinking! Ulquirraitao's arm off.

The only reason I continue to read Bleach is that a lot of people on my flist also continue to read Bleach. Which is possibly not the greatest reasoning ever.

And I've really been enjoying the last couple chapters - it's nice!

haha my reasons for continuing aren't much better: I've been following it for almost two years, and the plot lately is so thin it only takes about two minutes out of my life to read the next chapter XDD

It bums me out because this series had awesome characters and potential and Kubo's art style is so damn pretty. Le sigh, oh well. Maybe it'll have a comeback like Naruto seems to be doing! /crosses fingers

That would be really nice! Although I actually think KT's been getting a little sloppy lately. I think his earlier works showed more care and attention to detail. (I know! I can't seem to say anything good about this manga that I'm watching! It's terrible!)

I honestly don't know. Force of habit? A lot of my flist reads it, and since I got caught up with it in the first place, it takes me about two minutes to stay current each week, so....

Two more chapters and the suck will be back, I'm sure. But in the mean time...

This wasn't nearly as "Oh, gawd... trope!" as I was expecting. On the contrary, Kishimoto actually *gasp* made sense with a LOT of what he did with Minato. When I heard Daddy 4th was making an appearance in the chapter before this, I was about two seconds away from not reading it and just following your lj post on it. But... Kishimoto actually made me like it.

Hey, look... for guys went riding past on black horses. Huh.

Anyway, this last chapter was very good. Minato might become my new dead boyfriend, though he DOES remind me of Jiraiya a little in personality. I loved all the parts that you stated but I'm gonna change your dislike to haaaaate the fact that he pops out of all this in Drag Mode. That. Doesn't. Make. Sense. As you said, the last couple times Foxy's made an appearance, Naruto's been zapped and weakened. Maybe Daddy used the last of his chakra to not only reseal the beast but to fuel his son as well? I dunno. Either way the return of Frogger Naruto doesn't exactly thrill me.

I'm starting to not want Pain to die anymore, just for that reason. It would have been far more epic if Naruto defeated him with his own natural abilities, not his Power Upped ones... but, oh well. Maybe Kishi will surprise me once again. It'd be nice.

Oh, and Bleach... Blah, blah, blah. I read this chapter and the only thing that popped into my head was the song that goes, "HAAAAIR! WONDERFUL HAAAAAIR!" Ichigo's mostly naked body was hot... but his head looked like the love child between Pan from "Pan's Labrynth" and a My Little Pony. And let's not forget more of Orihime doing NOTHING. *sighs* I REALLY wish Kubo would move this along already. What about the Toushiro/Halibel fight? What about Shunsuei (sp?) and What's-his-name-hot-Espada? I know a lot of people were groaning over the pillar battles, but I was kinda into them. ESPECIALLY Pretty Boy from 11th and that rabid crossdressing Playboy Bunny wannabe. THAT was such an entertaining and completely random fight!

Who does it thrill? It kinda sucks balls, actually. I was really hoping that this fight would somehow end in a draw or something, or that Yamato would should up and seal the demon (which, I mean, I LOVED TO THE END OF TIME seeing Sai and Anko, by why have all the stuff with Yamato racing to the rescue when he's not needed? Although him showing up to be all like 'I'm here to save the say!' and someone - preferably Sakura- being like, 'yeah, whatever, we're fine, go back to chasing Kabuto.'

I know. I would be SO nice if Pain escaped to fight again, especially now that Naruto knows that someone is pulling Pain's strings.
