Remix sign ups are open but I haven't written fics in ANY of the qualifying fandoms and certainly not the required amount. I could have sworn that both Avatar and Naruto were on the list, but I guess not.

Goddamn.

I signed up, and I haven't written enough (or at all) in any of the qualifying fandoms. I just put my choices in the "Other" slot. still not sure if that'll get me in, but I figured it was worth a shot, so I don't see why you can't, either.

I left a (fairly) polite comment to the post, asking why the list overrepresents Western media and hardly mentions Japanese and if this could be remedied, and am totally going to do the "Other" option while I'm at it. This is BS.

From what you and your friends are saying, I'd guess that the people running the Remix has definite *personal* preferences and may be using it to feed his/her habit. (This may also be incidental and unconscious, I should point out here. It could also be the person(s) involved are not familiar with many of the more popular non-western fandoms, and thus are less likely to remember to include them.

(Because, I'm sorry, but Naruto and Avatar are too big that they've never heard of them unless there's not an interest there at all.)

I find it bizarre that they've excluded fandoms like Naruto and Avatar, but have included elderly anime fandoms like Weiss Kreuz which aren't nearly as active. Maybe the people who run this thing are clueless about the cartoony side of fandom.

It's a shame. I was thinking of signing up to remix an Avatar fic, for nostalgia's sake.

Well, I got a reply (http://community.livejournal.com/remixredux09/698.html?thread=4026), if you can call it that. It occurred to me to see if we could get six Avatar writers to comment, which is plenty enough to add a category by their own admission, but "we can't alter the form now" hits my Pointlessly Obstinate Alert buttons.

I do wonder, though. Would we get smacked around if we asked about creating a satellite LJ comm? HEY GUYS SIGN UP HERE IF YOU WANT TO DO THIS IN AN ANIME FANDOM, SEE THE RULES ON THE MAIN SITE. We could keep the signups and results on it, so as not to bother the "real" participants, and maybe drop the coordinators a link afterwards.
