~I liked the repeat of Kakashi carrying Naruto home and I liked how Sakura greeted him (and given the expression on Hinata's face as that happened, there is not a chance of a jealous love triangle there) but all of Konoha being 'yay Naruto!' made me laugh in a bad-good way, you know?

~FUCK YES! THE CLOUD TEAM IS BACK ROCK ON! I loved the rock gag. Such a great team.

~Waily, waily, Tsunade!

~She looks so old now.

~Yes! Danzo will be Hokage! I am SO pysched about this. Heh, heh, heh, think of  dramatic potential.... that Kishimoto will probably ignore. But seriously, I love the idea that Danzo is going to be the Hokage and I'm thrilled that Kakashi won't be.

I agree about Danzo. I don't think succession has been this interesting since Nero became Emperor.

I know it's a bit early to say this and my saying it might jinx it...but YAY, TSUNADE'S NOT DEAD. There's a small, small possibility of her popping up later to kick ass! I will keep my hope!

Cloud ninja team are still hilarious. I'm waiting to see what's up with Killerbee. (Hoping he's not going to get his soul sucked out.)

Honestly, I think her popping up later to kick ass is severely likely. Way have her in a coma otherwise when you could have killed her off? Why refuse to show her looking old?

My reaction to this chapter was a kind of sulky sadness; I resented that this manga has frelled with itself and us for so long and failed so hard in recent stuff that the moment where Naruto gets the only thing he's ever truly desired is the least emotional moment for me. The manga ITSELF ruined what was supposed to be the ultimate moment of vindication and love. This coming from someone who has always been emotionally invested in Naruto's struggle to belong, and found his isolation in the early manga to be the saddest thing in the whole story.

I waited for several years for...that? Blah.

I thought the reasoning for Danzo's claim was good (lord knows there's problems with that inherit-the-job-title thing Konoha has), but the pacing for that scene was weak. The other council members were like parrots, repeating back what Danzo or the ninjas said. They seemed to have no purpose or point as characters, and what could have been a dramatic "court room" style moment was instead pretty lame duck, and over too quickly.

Is Danzo even a shinobi? I can't remember

I think this is setting up for Sasuke to kill Danzo, as punishment for the Uchiha clan murders. That way he gets to have his vindication, while also taking out a possible bad leader for the village. Neatly absolves Sasuke of responsibility, again.

I can totally understand that. While I empathized with Naruto in the earlier chapters, he's SO not my typical type of character. Thus, his triumph being so hamstrung by all the previous wankery isn't that much of a loss for me.

Yeah, the pacing of that scene was weak - I think because Kishimoto wanted to rush and get it over in one chapter (and doesn't know how to use in media res effectively.)

Poor Tsunade. And with regard to the Danzou thing, I found it kind of rushed but it is a fun twist. Danzou's an interesting villain. I'm kind of meh about it's implications with regards to Sasuke, but whatever.

Kishi could clear that up if Tsunade woke up and killed Danzou herself--because, as Chiyo proved, old ladies can kick ass too--but I sort of doubt he'd go there.

I loved this chapter. ^^ A little moment of happiness before everything goes to shit under Danzo's Hokage-ship.

Kakashi carrying Naruto home... the sweetness of that overwhelmed me. Totally cool, in every way! Yay for Kakashi being there to catch Naruto. ^^

The Sakura hug was EXACTLY what I've been looking for in her. I don't really like all her violence towards Naruto, and I'm glad for a hug. And Hinata's reaction was... wow, she's so... Hinata. XD You were right on this, Red, I must say.

And, the villages' proclaimations were bittersweet. In a way of "It took them this damn long to acknowledge him!" kind of way. But, hey... I'm a sentimental girl, and for the most part... I'm happy with it.

I really wish that Tsunade wakes up, but I think this is the price that the villagers pay. Not one of them died, but they will lose their Hokage. I'm not surprised that Kishimoto had a loophole that he could pull out. XD

I personally love Sakura's slap slap kiss with the boys (I approve of) in her life and I adored that how surprised Naruto looked because of that hug.

Gedo Mazo is that monster thing that Nagato summoned, the one that ate his legs. Presumably, it's also the extraction statue, which makes sense, as Madara is all like, "FRIG, WE NEED THAT, SHIT."

Okay... I'm prefacing this by saying the last chapter didn't annoy me as much as I thought it would have. Yes, I was pissed at how Kishimoto glossed over EVERYTHING with Nagato. It had such potential to be this huge, monumental shift and... he fucked it up.

I am NOT as pissed off as several other peopl are with Konan. Yes, Kishimoto shoved her aside LIKE HE DOES WITH EVERY OTHER FUCKING WOMAN, but there WAS a bit more depth given to her character here. She made it clear that Nagato was her only concern (yay, ship moment!) and Akatsuki could kindly burn in hell as far as she was concerned. The one thing that seemed to really annoy a lot of people, her line about believing in Naruto because Nagato did, I interpreted differently: I don't see it so much as her believing in Naruto for her OWN sake so much as I see her doing it because it literally was Nagato's last request/action. It was shittily done by Kishimoto, but Nagato was converted to Narutoism and Konan is the type who would honor his dying wish, no matter what it would be. So, instead of me reading it as her saying, "You have converted me as well. Thank you for showing me the light." I see it as her saying, "Nagato was all I had left. He killed himself because he believed in your ideals. I'm not certain I agree with his reasoning... but those were his last words and I'm going to honor it. Don't fuck this up."

*sighs* There, it's off my chest.

THIS chapter now, I'm equal parts giddy and dreading the fallout. Eldr Fire and I were discussing this happening MONTHS ago, so I'm extremely, EXTREMELY happy Danzou's stepping up here. I'm also thinking the douche is actually Madara as well, for several reasons that I'll meta about in my own journal space. This is such an amazing, brilliant plot devise... and I'm sooooo not looking forward to how Kishimoto's gonna fuck this one up. because, let's face it, his track record for exceptional storytelling and clever plot devises is relatively low. He WANTS to write something that's more thought provoking and deep but he never follows through with it, and it's just SO FRUSTRATING. I mean, it's like he starts it off and is like, "Yeah, this is great! This is awesome and incredible and... oh, shit! Shounen's not supposed to be like that! Gotta draw some more frogs kicking ass stat!"

I hated her quitting Atasuki exactly because it meant that she was only doing it for Nagato. It was classic Kishimoto closeting the women; she was only in the flashbacks to provide drama for the boys and she was only in Atasuki (for her entire adult life!) because of Nagato. It makes my skin crawl.
